I have found a few of these in my garden recently. When found, they have been on the surface of the ground. Has anyone any idea what they might hatch into. I think it might be some sort of moth but I have tried to google moths/caterpillars but the sites just show pictures of the moths. Any help greatly appreciated.

Noooo....seen too many leatherjackets in the few years i spent working on golf courses. Definately a chrysalis....you could even see the wing shape. I'll get a pic if it's still there tomorrow !!!
