Lovely Skarloey - at least we are all back to the normal websites that some of us have have obviously been using ... RF Yes it's surprising how many anagram sites there are. Internet Anagram Server is a good one. Then again what's the point of that? Personally speaking, if I couldn't solve the clues on my own I wouldn't bother to enter. I am sure, and indeed I know[/i], that RF feels the same way. [/quote] Raxacoricofallapatorious, put that in an anagram solver then. It's not even in the bloody dictionary, it certainly won't come up in a dictionary based program. Now I used an anagram program to scramble it up, but Skarloey certainly didn't use a solver to, well solve it. I can guarantee you that.

You're not using Scrabble rules then - or Countdown!.
If it's not in the dictionary, bloody or otherwise, then does it count?
I am sure the Slitheen are very fond of their home planet, but are we reduced to Dr Who inspired fiction to conduct a word quiz?

Well - call me oldfashioned - but I usually write the clue on a piece of paper - pop off to cut it into single letters and then scramble them all up on the dining room table - and stare intently (OH joins in when I start huffing!) Occassionally something leaps out of the screen at me - but not always with all the letters in the anagram - so I am happier to stick with my Blue Peter version of a solver ;D x Tig

That's an interesting idea Tig. I'm usually quite good at anagrams, and if I can't see the answer immediately, I write the letters down in alphabetical order and then start off with common endings to try to jog my memory. It's not infallible but it works more often than not.

Most of the anagrams which have been posted on this thread have been real brain-testers - and I do look up any potential words I 'find' in my dictionary - I have become excellent at making up new words which don't currently exist ;D
It is just as hard to get something sensible in an anagram from the chosen word - but I apply the same formula - that way I can't miss a letter or use one twice! x Tig

I do the same Tig - just play around with the letters and have my trusty Chambers to hand for inspiration. Have to say, I prefer brain power as opposed to finger power ;D

I'm with Tig - sort of - I don't go as far as cutting the letters up in a Blue Peter style and putting them on the dining table, but I agree that words do jump out at you.
I also don't recall any 'rules' either Scrabble or Countdown being impossed at the outset.
And, does anyone under the age of 75 watch Countdown?
Too many questions and not enough Anagrams!!!!

When I was told it was a planet from Dr Who and people openly stated they weren't going to try, I googled 'Dr Who Planets' so we could have a different word. AND THEN I TOLD YOU I HAD CHEATED!!!!!!! Sometimes Spruance you can be so stuffy.
