I've just done a stoopid thing. OH went off out this afternoon, and as I was going to the greenhouse I told him to leave the gate for me to close. Well - guess who forgot!

Then I missed Henry - of course he'd taken the opportunity to go walk-about. I was lucky no vehicles came along the lane in that 15 minutes.

And the glory of the garden it shall never pass away!

He's going to the vets tomorrow afternoon to have the stitches in his leg out (provided I can keep him in!). We've been letting him out during the day but keeping him in at night.

Speaking of dogs wandering around roads... about 6 years ago Mum and Dad went on holiday and I was house/dog sitting. I thought I'd take the dog for a walk and duly clipped her lead onto her collar and then I opened the gate. She pulled and next thing I'm holding the lead with no dog attached- I'd clipped it onto the name tag loop instead of the collar loop. This was in the days when she used to just run and not come back... so there's me chasing this Westie down a B road with cars coming (who thankfully slowed down), screaming her name. Eventually caught up with her when she found something really interesting to smell.

And then there was the time Schmickles followed me down the road when I went to pick the car up from the garage and she waited in the park. So I went to go get her back from the park after I'd driven home and next thing, Eric is bombing around next to me having escaped from the garden... he ran off in front of an oncoming car (who also thankfully stopped in time) and thought it was a great game. No wonder I have grey hair!

Stupid arse got himself run over again on the 23rd October last year. He sadly didn't make it this time. He was very popular with some of the workers at the Welsh Assembly Government building next door and so it was some workers from there who tried to get him taken to a vets and tried to call me to tell me. He passed away en route to the vets though.

I received a bunch of flowers, text messages and cards from people I didn't know which was a testament to his character really. Sadly missed and never forgotten.
