Yours have far more skin as mine Barbara - they look marvellous - obviously different varieties - yes they are great... They look to be that they would store if you dry them well - if you have to take the others then I would...

With them having no tops on if it rains they will be full of water I think , I would rather give them away than let them go rotten in the shed where I store them, yours look good RF thanks for the help again.

Do you really need to do that Barbara - turn them upside down - that is what I did last year...how many tons have you got then?

I still have about 40 in the ground RF I dug up about a dozen or more. I could chopand freeze some and make some soup as well, I think I'll be busy in the kitchen next week.

I have abut 50/60 in two 45litre tubs - varying sizes and I can stagger them...I hope you can use them bit by bit - it is heartbreaking to lose them..

Barbara, those look absolutely fine, the outer skin that they have, even if it's not skin colour, will harden as they dry. I think Tig had problems with her onions one year so she might be able to advise r.e. storing. For now 'tho I'd dig them all up and get them drying. Rosefriend, those look good, well done to both of you. I did'nt get onions this year but hopefully I'll get some this autumn to overwinter again, they did so well last time.

They were Troy LG,my spring planted ones were Picko Bello, not so big,but a nice onion

They are only the autumn planted ones RF,ive got almost as many spring planted,and they all should last into April,we eat them six days a week.
No i dont string them Maggy,

I see Picko Bello above and that was what I grew last year and had an excellent crop but can't find them this year.
