What's in bloom in March 2019

i thought I'd start a March thread - hope you don't mind Ladygardener .

Slept until 6.30 this morning so it was nearly light and when I drew the curtains I was met with the sight of the bank daffodils really coming out!




There's also hellebores, anemones, primroses and leucojum...

Not at all Jasmine, I'm delighted to see you have so many smashing spring flowers. I also love the moss on the rocks.

I noticed the moss too Ladygardener, it softens the rocks beautifully!

It's wonderful how they've all opened together Barbara, they're so lovely. A lot of mine are opening in dribs and drabs.

More hellebores taken yesterday, it is a bit wet out today.

I've just noticed tulips in bloom, I'll take a pic tomorrow if it stops raining.

My species tulips (possibly tulipa clusiana) have been open for about a week now.

Yes those Tulips are early and so pretty Tig , mine were too but the wind destroyed one of them. All your Hellibore are smashing.

These are Hyacinth I planted out last year after growing them in a pot. If anything, they're even better this year. I've the same variety in pots since 2016 and they have come back very strong too. "Miss Saigon"

Wow! you are serious about your Hellibore Tig,. I love that white Pulmonaria, they're one of my favourite springtime flowers.

It just looks white on my pic LG, it is pale baby blue, called Opal if my memory serves

These hycinth have been in the garden a few years now but were previously in the house around Christmas time

I agree, lovely plants maggy, it's such a waste to throw them away once they've bloomed in pots. I have done that in the past but now I find a home for them in the ground or feed them a couple of times and let the leaves go yellow and lift them out of the pots, keep them dry then replant them in the autumn and it has worked, some of the pots I have this year have Hyacinth that I did exactly that with.

All of mine were planted singularly and left in they have quadrupled over the years I love them.

I've got hyacinths everywhere too, we do like getting our monies worth out of our bulbs

Do you think soil type makes a difference to the hyacinth color like hydrangea . Mine are mostly pink , I don’t think they all were when I planted them.?

That Camelia is super Jasmine. The little Jetfire are smashing, I can't believe how much growth you have on your Peony!

Jasmine, That camellia is lovely, my magnolia is opening up as well a month early I reckon .

I love that camellia - it was a present from my mum and dad. Perhaps I ought to try and layer a cutting - I would be sad to leave it behind.

I think all my hyacinths have flowered their original colour, perhaps the pink ones have survived better in your garden Maggy

The cream akibia quinata has started to flower, as have the tall daffs and more hellebores, and I noticed that some hellebores are just sending up a flower stem, it's been a weird season!

Narcissus "Martinette" in the top border. They smell good too.
