One of my favourite books is this one though... Full of gardener's tips and easy to understand gardening science...

My old RHS encyclopedia of plants and flowers is my best gardening reference tool, even though some of the plant names have changed since I acquired it, the detailed information on what is required for each species is always relevant. I also have two versions of Right plant, right place, they are still referenced. I have a mini-library of gardening books, I find it difficult to donate any of them to the charity shop!

The older books are often the best Tig! Seems to me that no plant is ever given an new, easy to say/remember name!

I'm too ancient to change the taxonomy I've been used to using - it has taken me years to remember half of them as it is Dicentra and schizostylis are two that I won't remember the new names of.

Me neither Tig , when you read about them in magazines or the paper they have to use the old and new name so folk know what they're talking about! These are my snowdrop books, I love looking through them. The middle one was like the snowdrop Bible when I first got interested. I remember it costing 20 something pounds and thinking that was ridiculous, it now sells on Amazon when they have one for around £850!
