Thanks Barbara. It's quite a new tree and it has had 1 or 2 pears on it for the past few years - it has excelled itself this year! I feel a bit sorry for them - I wonder where they go.

ow long do wasps live for? In social wasps, workers (sterile females) have an average lifespan of 12-22 days, drones (fertile males) have a slightly longer lifespan than workers, and queens (fertile females) have an average lifespan of 12 months

They dont live very long do they?
I was reading about wasps a couple of days ago, they lose their worker jobs around now as the nest social structure starts to fall apart which is why they start to become what we consider a nuisance. It was interesting that the wasps who were obviously out when OH sprayed knew they couldn't go back in but didn't know what else they should do.

Was it in a gardening magazine Ladygardener? I can't remember where I saw it! Would you like a few corms after it has finished flowering?

New this year and planted deeply into the top border. Longiform Lilies "White Heaven". They have what I would say is a light but delicious scent. Tithonia were very difficult to grow this year, I only managed 2 and they're just starting to bloom now.

Beautiful lilies Ladygardener but the tithonia is stunning! It's not been a good summer for things needing some hot sunshine like tithonia, lantana and mirabilis.

Thanks Jasmine, so many of my seedlings just sat there for weeks then slowly died off and I was left with only 2 plants and it has taken until now to get them to bloom.

Yes me too Jasmine. It's funny but a lot of the plants I grow are because I've seen friends on here growing them or talking about them so there's always that connection. I'm sure others feel the same.
