Very well done Barbara, all above me I am afraid - my dear old Mum was a fantastic cook/cake maker but my limit is a sponge and scones really.... Do post a pic when you cut it!!

I will Rosefriend, last year I gave half to my youngest Son, this year I'm giving him a hamper with one in, so I can keep this one just to our house.

I found a nice recipe by Skye McAlpine recently in a newspaper, so I made 2 cakes. One for keeping for xmas and one for eating (6" and 5" )
They've both gone so the fruit is soaking for another.....this time Jeff wants marzipan and icing....bit of a faff but I've only got the one husband and it has been a horrid year.

My eldest Son doesn't like cake but loves marzipan, so I always save him a chunk.
