Jolly pleased to hear that you'll be adopting the cats. Minx is a good name...what about Minnie for the other one? (or is that too common?) Will go away and think hard...it's an important decision...but you'll no doubt think of one in the first few days that you are living together...aw. AND brave of you to open up like that madonplants. Know what you mean about the sensitivity of animals to their owners' state of mind. I was off work for 12 months a few years ago with depression...my lovely dog played a significant and important role in my recovery. I've stuck to cats since Kipperdog died 2 years ago, OH and I just couldn't face losing another doggie. My pussycat is walking up the stairs and I can hear her purring from here....I'd better go and tell her how beautiful she is. (again) Whether I was 'brave' or not, I am not sure, but if it helped, I did the right thing. I still suffer and tried to get back to work, but failed badly twice. My doctor said, what is more important working or my health. Said like that, made sense. I still suffer depression, as I can't taken medication, as my previous anti depressants have given me a mild form of epilepsy, so when I get bad I have to push myself through it. That is where Souki comes into things more than anything else. At this time of the year, I am worse and was told I also have S.A.D. I wasn't sure (we all get the winter blues) but for the last four years, using a special light in winter helps and I know when I have missed an odd dose! Pets are so special, as even when I have been out taking the kids to school and come back 20 minutes later, Souki goes mad. You would think I had been away days, sometimes! I don't want to turn this into a medical discussion, but as stated, if it helped I did the right thing! Keith

Have you chosen names yet, if not try here. www.cat-names.co.uk/Hope this helps. I used something similar for Souki and just went through the names until one came up that we both liked. Jemma was named, via The Telegraph. I was at the doctors and this paper was in front and said see the ten most popular names for babies. Emma was first, but couldn't have that due to an ex girlfriend called that! Second was Gemma. When we told the breeder that was her name, she spelt it wrong on the registration form, so it stayed Jemma. Keith

Kieth. I have just seen your post re depression. I am in the same boat in that I can't any medication. I have been really down recently & have been taking cuprofen for back pain as my acupuncturist was on holiday. I woke every a.m. feeling really anxious. After about 3 of not taking them days the anxiety had gone. I have ME, fibromyalgia & arthritis of the spine. I have found that diet plays a major part in my symptoms & many others have also. Patrick Holford has written a very good book, Optimum Nutrition For The Mind. Gluten can be a major factor in depression, most certainly with me & several people I know. There are lots of supplements that can help also herbs. I do hope you don't mind my butting in. Regards janet.

As for names, how about Shishi, which I believe is Lion in Japanese (going with the Oriental theme) or Shizi which is lion in Chinese (I think she looks lion-ish). Oooooh P, what an excellent name! You're sooooooooooo clever ;D

I think you may be right Willow. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and it will be lovely for the house to feel like a home again. I did have a little tear today though sorting out the carrying case

Glad to hear you`re not going to be catless Dee, and to hear of your new additions, when they`ve settled in it will be like they were always there. ;D (As they arent Kittens you can bribe them with succulent cuts and titbits, and they`ll soon decide they own you!)

Hi Dee. I just had to come back and find out what your decision had been. Glad to here that you've decided to adopt them. I had my fingers crossed but knew you had to get there yourself.
I had decided that I was not going to have cats when I moved into my flat. Ex and I had 3 and we decided they should stay with him in the old house because that's what they knew as home. A friend rang up to say there was a kitten looking for a home and before I knew it I had 2. Someone was meant to have the other but at the last minute couldn't.
Daisy was easy to name - she's a tortie and has a sort of sweet little face that suggests daisy. Freddie was harder but is actually named after Freddie Mercury.
Hope all goes well for you and them. That's cheered me up this morning.
Blod

Dee, I've just found this thread, I would say go for it and adopt the two cats - you wont regret it. I lost a cat in March 2005 - two days later OH came home with a pedigree Persian who had desparately needed a home having been living rough for several weeks. She looked a mess! now nearly two years later she rules our house and the ginger cat lets her!! "Madame" just thinks she's a godess.
Please let us know what you decide to do.
