Thanks Jasmine. If it worked for you on clay it should work for me too. Maybe I leave one or two to flower if it is hardy.

You could chop it in early spring time Dutchy.

Why not - can't do any harm. It would give you more free seeds for this time next year You may have a very good idea there!

Yes but they do take valuable veggie space. Transplanting is probably not a good idea.

One or two won't take up much space...

After our lovely first bit of winter my Bitter Lupin looks very sorry for itself and the ones I transplanted seem more dead that anything else. I think by the end of this month I will hoe on a dry day to get the green manure flattened and I will see what happens next. Unless they perk up then I'll wait for early Spring.

I wonder if it will buck up when the temps go up a bit Dutchy?
My field beans are doing ok - they aren't growing but the snow and frost doesn't seem to have made a difference.

What a shame Dutchy, but like Jasmine said they may buck up. Lots of plants do look like they have bitten the dust after extreme cold but seem to rally round for you.

They seem to be willing to live on even though the snow flattened them, they are showing life at the base. They are tougher than I expected.
The coming week will be too warm for the time of year and they might even start growing for real.
Most plants are tougher than I think and some that I believe to be very tough simply keel over. The ever present mystery of our gardenplants ;D
