when I was very small, my mate's Aunt Baby used to produce sparrow pie now and again... sorry - should this be in "recipes"?

Ahh, sweeeet! Lovely piccie BB and well worth the wait. I love to watch the birds on my bird hangers (I can see them since I cleaned the windows!). I have a home made contraption made out of an old circular bamboo chair I was given mounted on a pole with a twig hedge tied over it as a roof - the "beach hut" as the kids call it but it works really well as a bird feeder as I have all sorts of things hanging off it with butchers hooks. It's always crowded. I love sparrows - there's certainly not a shortage of them here. Those two look really chirpy!

OM I hope you didn't ever eat any of that pie 4P your feeder sounds mega . On my previous post, the black metal contraption on my trellis is one of a pair of plant holders from £1 Land, I put a couple of pot trays in each of them and put seed and bread in them. Bits drop down into some pots below and they peck about in them too. Just got these.

Over the past few days I've noticed a little dunnock hopping about amongst the shrubs in the border...it's picking up the seed that the collared dove (the one left that hasn't been eaten by the sparrowhawk) has knocked off the bird table onto the ground. It appears to be resting at night in amongst the passionflower and cup & saucer vine that cover the fence with a thick layer of foliage. Fingers crossed my cat doesn't notice our little visitor...OH says it's been hanging around for several days...aw.

Oh bless it, I love to see the birds in the gdn. I see a couple of hedge sparrows that come and clean up the bits on the path that the house sparrows drop. Saw 6 collared doves land on next doors shed roof today. Could be the regular pair with their young from this year I guess.

Whilst in the garden yesterday I noticed 2 male Robins bobbing about. One did the traditional thing and perched itself on a spade that was in one of my new raised beds, didn't have camera in pocket . must remember next time.

Those pictures are absolutely amazing. I love the little birds we have, they're so darn cute!! There's 20% off all birdcare at the moment at work so I'll be popping in later to get some more stuff. Tryin to talk boyf into gettin that bird table I've wanted for ages cos it's now only £16 and then I get my discount on top. I'll turn on the charm again later ;D
