Gorgeous against the Euphorbia Auricula. Tig I'm so pleased you got one, I've got a bit of string tied round one of my plants to remind me to dig one up for you if all the seedlings failed, I'll take it off now. Couldn't decide if Mrs KC should go in this thread or the purple one, glad you made the decision for me i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif This Catananche should definitely go here, it's a lot bluer than the pic shows, it's the first flower & I'm very pleased with it, even more so by the fact that I got it at the plant sale last month & I've just seen one at the GC for £8.99 i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif Scabious that I got at the same time, I still love the old fashioned one the best, I just wish that you didn't get just one flower on a long stem & then have to wait for the next one. I love the catanache Jilly, think mine have flowered in the front borders and I missed them because of the 'wildflower meadow' that evolved out there! I have really enjoyed the flowers on the delphiniums grown from RFs seed - the striped middles are really attractive, my photo doesn't really do it justice Noticed flowers on the cornflowers which self-seeded from last year and for something that self-seeds so well I think the flowers on nigella are most worthy contributors to any garden There is great excitement here in Tigworld, as something I've been trying to grow from seed for many years, lost a couple, managed to keep one into year 3 and I've seen a flower bud today!!! It will be appearing here shortly if nothing happens to it ;D x Tig

Post by Ladygardener on Jun 26, 2012 18:13:28 GMT
Yes I sow them JW, they don't like to be transplanted 'tho but I sprinkle some straight to the ground as well as in a tray. They're one of the few things that will grow for me where I sow them.

Got a couple of blues myself.... and then I was really lucky this last weekend and got a Tweedia Caerules (Asclepias family) - hoping to get some seeds as well for anyone that is interested... It's not totally hardy but I was told it would do the winter in a GH with loads of fleece...mmmh - from what I have read about it it will be difficult to keep it alive but I shall have a go... Isn't it a great colour.... RF

I must admit that I fell n love with it but I haven't really had the time to have a good look on the web. I do know that the seed pods are typical for an Asclepias and there fore they probably need the cold to germinate....will certainly try and get some seeds for anyone that fancies a try...
I have the E-mail addy from the person that I bought it from and I wonder whether to mail him and ask if it wouldn't be better to bring it inside in the winter....I don't even know if it dies back...

I love your MG Rf, I'm not growing any this year. A lot of my Anemone have rotted this year with all the wet weather, that's lovely Jilly.

Well done with the anemones Jilly, like everything if you can give it the conditions they like they will usually grow. The aconitum is very architectural, save me some seeds if you can please RF - I'd love some tweedia seeds if they ripen please ;D Looks like I'd have to grow it and treat it as a annual though apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=1974x Tig

I'll certainly try to get some seeds from the Aconitum for you Tig, it does take it's own sweet time to get architectural though.

A few blues from me. Agastache 'Licquorice Blue' A cloud of Perovskia Salvia patens Verbena corymbosa The last one is a nice surprise for me. It's Scutellaria incana. I'd forgotten that I bought a one-stemmed plant from an open garden last summer...but it's back and it has four stems! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif
