Look what the dierama looks like when the flowers open!!! Now that is an absolute dream Tig, isn't it....marvellous... I like that White Delph - I have a few and they are nice - I absolutely love white in a garden...talking of which - what is the Princess Kate Clem like. When it first came out Olaf said that he didn't want to have to get it in stock as it was a Texensis and they just never do well here and are weak in general, same as the Diana plant...when Dutchy came she said that the plant is weak even though the flowers are wonderful - how is your doing??

They are only open in full sun Jilly, they were all back to a neat row of bells this morning. I had to do a bit of digging to try and find dierama which do open like this, did you know there are 44 species of dierama? I am fairly certain that this is a unique cross, so would be a sub-species, possibly of d. robustum but not sure. The Princess Kate clematis was a new purchase this year, from T &M so you can imagine what a weedy little specimen it was when it arrived. So far it is doing quite well and has had about 8 flowers on it, not bad considering how tiny it was back in spring. Princess Diana performed really well for me for about 3 years, since then it has struggled to produce more than a couple of blooms. Perhaps this one will be the same, but it has a lovely deep maroon centres which show off the creamy inner petals.

Jilly made me question the idenfication of the 'dierama' so I sought expert advice (via the lady who holds the National Dierama Collection). She let me down gently - it is an Ixia! I didn't plant it, so the only way it could have arrived was as a 'free gift' with the variegated phormium I'd planted a few years back, perhaps it has flowered before & I'd not seen it I was a bit disappointed, but still love the flowers.

Thankyou very much for the kind comments and noms Maybe my camera is a bit misleading - there isn't a tinge of blue in the centre or the edge of the flowers but it is still gorgeous I think I grew them from seed very late in the season - they are Cosmos Zanthos

It's lovely @bagpus, looks quite small. My Crazy Daisy is blooming well now too and my ordinary Shastia that I've had for years and years. I'm just waiting for the banana cream ones to open now.

I failed last time I tried to grow these - planted them in the wrong place. Lesson learnt, and this year I have success - just love something a bit different, michauxia campanuloides

Beautiful Rosefriend, I don't know what it is with the competitions this year, they're like the kiss of death It's my worst year ever for sweet peas & don't talk to me about the high winds & the Begonias Loving these lilies though (it's been such a great year for them here) these were just a cheap offer from J parker when ordering something else, can't remember the name, but looking on their website I think they are Venezuela

I agree with you both, my begonias are rubbish, my climbers are rubbish and my tomatoes are rubbish this year. My lilies are'nt bad but although I've not had any red devils the weather has taken their toll on them. These are beautiful...I love lillies but unfortunately they play havoc with my hayfever
