Here is some foliage looking good at the moment: Alchemilla Mollis: Ajania / Pacific chrysanthemum Heuchera ... thanks Beejay ;D Fuchsia Thalia ... I'm a lousy photographer, in real life the leaves have a sheen like heavy dull silk: I don't know what this is ... as a bonus, has lovely flowers in spring: Fatsia: This is an annual of which I've forgotten the name and lost the seed packet ... the leaves are actually almost black: Viola Labradorica, except I think nowadays it's called Rivonia or something similar: ... cheers ...

Hi Shrub ... it was bought as a little pot plant in Lidl, and they're had it again a few days ago. In the autumn it develops gorgeous glossy yellow flower buds which stay like that for ages, and when they open the flowers last into December ... cheers ...

This is one of my favourites in the garden. The flowers are going over now, but it's the leaves I love. I put a welly in the second photo, just to show the size of the plant.

WT, I expect little else so am never really disappointed. But it saves on the water rates bills. What I would give for that "Warm Air Flow" that helps your plants. Or are you not that far W

Fozzie, the rain was absolutely torrential today. I was in ASDA, and the noise of it on the roof was thunderous. Like you, I don't expect anything. And I'm too far inland to benefit from the Gulf Sea Drift. There have been years when we had our simmer in May, and I think this may be another one. Must admit, I'd be unhappier if everything was too dry

Wee T Ithink you might be right about our summer, but at least things will be lush, albeit a bit damp under foot. Those hardy root veggies and beans will just love it!

I'm not sure which of the Rodgersias that one is, I got it in a 9cm pot without a label. I have a feeling the variety is German sounding. It has got even bigger since I took that photo, and I feel I must measure the width of it tomorrow.
