Good God that was quick - well done Tig - I hadn't even started to have a look.
Will someone be kind enough to tell me why plants names have to be changed all the time??

No idea Tig - this name changing annoys me to hell...
Right, I know that plant but as usual I can't remember where from or what the name is....
I shall start to have a look in my books...it is a summer plant isn't it..

What a marvellous idea OB...I am looking forward to it.
I would put it on Gardening Chat which is not only gardening discussion but it includes Help and Advice and Books. Plus it is a board that a lot of people look at.
One thing that intrigues me is why names are constantly changing....

Nice blue eyed plant? erm Pinguicula grandiflora obviously is wrong. Is it a perennial?

Post by Tig on May 19, 2010 18:23:07 GMT
It comes from Chile and I believe in its native habitat it is a perennial, however here it is treated as a half hardy annual as it doesn't tolerate freezing Dutchy x Tig

I don't do annuals, but this could be Nierembergia.

I don't think it is called that OB, but it is in the same family. The second part of the name begins with 'p' and sounds like a contradiction x Tig

Hey Sherlock .... well found for a gardener who doesn't do annuals - Nolana paradoxa I think of annuals as garden stocking fillers x Tig

This is flowering now in our garden. The flower is about 1.5 inches across, but it probably should be bigger.
