WOOHOO! my neighbour has ordered a skip! Seems an odd thing to be pleased about but her garden is such an eyesore, and I have a clear view of it now Ive taken down the Lavatera and cut out the rotten branches in my old lilac tree, I could post photos but somehow that seems to be wrong on so many levels! Im sooooo pleased that all the broken furniture and the rotten rat infested shed will be gone .... pleased, I should say so!

Sweetleaf, you've made us all curious now - now only about the neighbour's neglected garden, but about the contents of the skip. I can't pass a skip by without a good rummage - and you find the most amazing things, particularly in skips outside really old houses. You never know what could be in amongst that <broken furniture> ;D ... cheers ...

Well done SL007, from what you described and what I can see in the pics it must be horrible having that lot next door. I wonder what has made them suddenly decide to clear it all out

Oooooh that would be nice for you, fingers crossed, more garden. On that 1st pic is there someone sat on a chair in the bottom right corner of the garden. Or am I imagining it. And......... are there 2 skips

The boy on the chair is her son, he has had to do all the work while she supervises from a distance, G&T in hand (that being her only exercise) I just found out he paid for the skips too, bless him.

Just so you dont get the wrong idea she is the only one, now, around here with this attitude towards her property,(and it is hers), all my other neighbours take a real pride in their homes and gardens and spend a lot of time and effort keeping them nice. There has been a real improvement over time as tenants have bought their properties and improved them, she on the other hand, cant even be bothered to put out her rubbish for the bin man... Im just unlucky, I suppose, that this woman is my neighbour. She is only 38 by the way and in no way disabled .....just slovenly. All work has stopped now, unfortunately, it seems my hopes of a proper clean up will be dashed.

Oh dear Sweetleaf, it does sound bad - sorry I was blithely joking about the joys of skips yesterday. Your neighbour sounds like the woman we bought our house from - it's amazing that there are perfectly able-bodied people who don't mind living amongst refuse (it was the first time I'd ever seen rats up close and personal). Also feel sorry for the son. Hopefully they'll finish the job ... and perhaps she'll be so impressed by the lack of dirt that she'll turn over a new leaf . And even decide to do something with that enormous garden ... cheers and fingers crossed ...

skips are full...she says.. I know I could have sqeezed more in,and they get picked up tomorrow, she didnt do any work outside herself, and the shed is still full to bursting point. Shes leaned an old door against the aperture but as one wall is falling down, who does she think shes kidding?

What a shame, those skips are around a £110 each round here. I certainly wouldn't have sent one back half full at that price, but then you said the son paid for them. She sounds like a funny one.
Neighbours !!!!, I had an odd one who kept coming into my gdn, bringing me cups of T, cakes, biscuits, even lunch on a tray on a couple of occasions. One time I was on the phone sat on my bench in the gdn and she came and sat nxt to me, I kept on the phone and didn't make eye contact with her, I was fuming, 30 minutes later she still sat there. It got beyond a joke and so as not to offend I made up some story about local sheds and out buildings being broken into and that I was going to get some locks for my 3 sheds and the back gate. That stopped her in her tracks.
Hope thing improve for you with nxt door.

Nah theyve started putting more stuff in the garden, Im going to have to report them to the council soon, I think as there are rats nesting under their rubbishshed. OH doesnt want me to do it because he thinks it will start a war!

Can't you report them anonymously Sweetleaf, or at least ask the Council not to reveal your details. I must admit that I have reported a former neighbour for exactly the same situation. He was not best pleased, but he never found out that it was me that reported him!

I'd get them reported SL you should be able to do it annonymously. It's that time of year when the rats are starting to be seen about. Saw one today rummaging about in front of one of my sheds. We always get them about and have to bait up. Have horses and chickens next door and across the back of our house so inevitable that we get them about.

I had a word with a friend of mine, whos a Pest Control Officer, he says he will add them anonymously to his friends "round" by computer! That way there is nothing on record to say who reported them. Sneaky I know, but what else can I do? I found two dead rats in the garden last week, but my 3 cats cant keep up with the rats breeding rate!
