What a shame Jasmine, someone else will be happy 'tho. Good that T&M seem to be on the ball 'tho. Amelanchier and Rowan are on our wish list, I've already emailed the private gc we went to last year and they will let us know when and if the Amelanchier comes in but they could'nt say for definite that it would...

Well, I hope so Ladygardener, don't like to think of it sitting in its box somewhere. It's the delivery people I'm annoyed at - I couldn't deal with them T&M have to do it. Such rubbish service, but then again, I had never heard of the delivery company either so perhaps it is very cheap and cheerful. There's a GC like that near here - it's a treasure trove of lovely stuff all year round as they don't just put out beautiful flowering things.

Me again...moaning again! I've been waiting ages for this bud to open. It should be Cafe au Lait which is a stunning pinky, creamy colour... My little sister tells me 'Its cadmium red and cobalt yellow!!' Looks orange like my Jeep to me!

I'm not sure any of my set has been right Barbara, and 2 of the set didn't grow in the first place. Not sure I'm going to use her for tulips and dahlias anymore, they are so slow to refund too.

The one that didn't grow any part at all that I sent a picture of, the replacement plants were pathetic, so I wont be using her for dahlia's again.

I took some plants over the road to a new neighbour, she lives in a house Alan and I call the Doll's House as it is a really little, old house - wouldn't suit us at all!!! Well, it is a tardis inside (still wouldn't suit us as the ceilings are too low!) and my lovely, new neighbour wouldn't let me leave without some allium and tulip bulbs! Got to love gardening friends!

maggy, how are your Amaryllis doing? 2 of our old ones that we started off around the same time as you did have flower buds and 1 of the new ones has a flower spike starting now too.

I saw this earlier on FB and thought it a good idea to share here.
However, those who do have water stored up and ready to use should consider using it in conjunction with a watering can not a hose to minimise the risks from creating spray.
The experiment at Porton Down has shown that putting a pump in the water butt and connecting it to a hose could be very dangerous indeed.
This would be particularly true for those who have underlying health conditions or who are of an advanced age.
One man in Cromer, Norfolk died last year after using a hose to clean his patio.
The hose had been left full of water out in the heat, where the Legionella bacteria could multiply.

That’s great LG mine just has leaves ! I live in hope but the flower spike should come first shouldn’t it ? It was a big healthy bulb as well

Wow Barbara , who would have thought? I’m always careful to disinfect our shower head but reading that is worrying ! What about when you drain your water but ? It must be the heat combination ! Mind you I shared a post on FB about coughing hard if you were on your own and having chest pain ! It said it helps until you can get help if having a heart attack ! I was told it was a load of rubbish and not to believe things check the facts ! I won’t be doing that again.

It's the scientists at Porton Down maggy, Homeowners who follow government advice to use water butts to hose their gardens and wash their cars risk exposing themselves to a dose of deadly legionella bacteria, scientists at Porton Down have warned. The article is in the Sunday Times if you want to take a look.

That would make sense Barbara, at work it was one of the maintenance team's jobs every week to check the hot water taps for legionella.

Gosh Barbara, who would have thought it! Thanks for the heads up. maggy, some of ours only have leaves as well but we live in hope too. The ones with the flower buds don't have leaves growing but there are shoots coming for leaves if you know what I mean.

It is sulphate of potash that helps fruiting and flowering maggy but it's expensive so we keep that for fruit trees. All we did was put them outside about May/June or so last year, gave them a couple of feeds with tomato food when we remembered up until about august/september. We let them go dormant for a couple of months then and brought them in and they're in the bathroom where it does'nt get too hot but gets diffused light through the window. Another one is opened now this morning and while they are in flower, if they need watering, I will give them a tomato feed as well but they really only need watering every couple of weeks.

I did everything you did Ladygardener, except the feeding ! I couldn’t tell you if I fed it or not ! Probably not seeing it hasn’t produced a flower , it was a good fat bulb though. I will make sure next summer.

Not a great pic as it was taken through the window but it is our very clever Woody defying the squirrel proof peanut feeder - only bird that can except for the tiny blue tits which can get in the protective sphere...and a male phezzie...the girls are nowhere to be seen today!

The woody is very timid Ladygardener, but obviously very clever. I felt bad buying the squirrel proof feeder as I thought it would mean he couldn't get anymore peanuts but he worked it out. The magpies fly up from the ground, take a chunk out of the suet block and eat the bits as they fall to the ground. It is so clever watching them all find a way of getting food.

I know just what you mean, I've had my eyes opened by the rooks who sit and work out the best way to access the sunflower hearts I put on into different feeders. They are ingenious Jasmine, you can almost see their brains working, clever is'nt the word for them. I ment to say, I see a little Blue Tit at the other feeder there too.

You have a lovely wildlife garden Jasmine, I have only seen a woodpecker in ours once a few years ago now, and a couple of pheasants when the farmer is shooting and they come to get a way.
