I like your idea Larkshall - I'll do that, but keep an eye out for Council stuff as suggested by Rita. We don't get a great deal of junk mail these days, thank goodness, and I think possibly because I'm careful about ticking boxes saying I don't want to share my address with third parties.

Ooh, a Startrek compost bin - how good is that! Makes my plastic ones look even uglier... I had a row of beautiful wooden ones like Sweetleaf but I couldn't stop the rats nesting in them so they had to go. The plastic ones aren't anything like as good. I find it much trickier to get the balance right with plastic ones - I have to add lots of shredded paper to keep it sweet and drier. It'll be interesting to see how your metal one performs, Sara. I always add a good layer of thorny twigs to start mine off to try and deter nasties. Yours is definitely top in the style stakes though!
