Amo - how are Dutchy and Rosefriend going on - thriving I hope??
The COTM Dibblers or the Old Moley's for short are losing a few leaves at the moment.......now then should I be worried or is it something that happens when they get a little older!!
Perhaps a little guano might help..........that's a thought ......now then OM's pheasants might just eat some tender shoots, but they repay him by sh ....erm leaving other stuff about - that's it then - they are enormous because they are getting fed on a natural basis.
So Amo - what wanders around your garden helping to feed the Budd's - hope Dutchy and Rosefriend don't get forgotten....

Dutchy and Rosefreind are holding up to the weather. They're not dropping, discolouring or growing at the moment. Oh for a bit more sunshine!! They both get inspected regularly, just come in from doing the rynds of the grynds. Well apart from three cats, (one a Maine Coon that could poop for England) and two dogs, we also get the odd pheasant or two too. Not this many in the back, thank goodness!!

Pleased to hear that Ducthy and RF are doing well..
Soooooo....... it seems that Pheasant poo has a possible bearing on how large Budd's grow in certain areas.......aha.......Budd's do like being fed then.......

;D Rosefriend are you trying to tell the people from acros the pond that their boasting about doing nothing and getting whopping big Buds is due to Nature ( pheasants chased or not chased by Lulufish ) feeding them? And that by rights our buds should grow just as big but... Nature again as ours are not fed by it, don't..... Hey there are Pheasants at MssK. I am certain cause they removed the Broad beans ( flew off as I entered the garden ). So that is why Saint Budlea of the Netherlands is doing so well. Oh my oh my oh my... Amo thank you for looking after us so well and could you please get some pheasant do for us? Cheers.

Pheasants? Pheasants? don't talk to me about pheasants... just come in from mulching exercise around RHP bed and the buggers are on their nibbling-down-to-nibblything annual offensive. RHP's are shredded. Bah!
Want pheasant 'do'? I'll squeeze one for you...

The traveling Bud. Found this one doing very well in an Austrian garden. As it is freezing cold there .... it is without leafs but the flower remains are a give away.

I wonder if that has survived the winter Dutchy.
Amo - is there any news on Dutchy and Rosefriend? Are they still going strong?
How is the St Buddleia of the Netherlands getting on Dutchy?
The CMOT Dibblers are stuck under a pile of fleece at the moment and they are being looked after very carefully after a tiny bit died.
So OM, - and how are the German Elite doing after the pheasant attack, - are they still fighting back? I do hope that cats don't like Budd's...

So OM, - and how are the German Elite doing after the pheasant attack, - are they still fighting back? I do hope that cats don't like Budd's... RF these are those very bluebudd cuttings sent to me by RF and eaten by pheasants down to tiny shreds of shreddy things, as of today - remarkably recovered and now out of danger, at least while they're in the GH: and that speck of green on the far side of the pot is the hitherto extinct redbudd, just hanging on in there: So, disaster has been averted, though I'm still puzzled by the 'red wipeout'... At the other end of plant life and scale, this lump of a thing has pulled away over the years from its wall (wonder when it was thought to be a feature rather than a weed) and now lies across the pathway I'd like to reinstate.... hmmm, should I dig it out having taken some cuttings? That's a 10litre pot in there for 'size' - the trunk is huge for a budd. OM.

I'm sort of fan training one against a fence panel in the forecourt area Moley. they do quite well fan trained 'coz they sort of gently spill forth. I'm sure you know what I mean RF and Dutchy are still sitting there waiting for the soil to warm up. I know once it does they'll romp away. Get ready for some romping away girls. ;D They haven't moved much lately. I did look yesterday but didn't take any photos because I didn't think you'd notice any difference

Good God OM - I would seriously like to know how old that Budd is, - that trunk really is enormous.
As to why the red Budd's have died is beyond me - I was at the Nursery/GC this morning and asked if he had any idea, and was told that he didn't really know - he had a couple of thoughts but they didn't add up to much.
Mind you, - that the blue Budd's have come back as well as they have is a surprise to me as well - I wouldn't have given them chance here.

Neither would I have here. But both big and baby budd at MssK are alive and OK. I gave big budd or StBuddleia a haircut ( minor ) several weeks ago and it is doing fine. I still have to give it its final haircut but am waiting for the frost to go. The one I saw in Austria obviously was an adult doing well against all odds so maybe there is a species that can live on the colder continent Bad treatment that is the trick I am going to stick to from now on. Hey before you know it I might be complaining about budds growing everywhere too. OOOh now there is a thought.

Budds everywhere Dutchy....nah doubt it somehow. I think your miracle St Buddleia of the Netherlands is just that...a miracle!! It could still be the pheasant poo though..
When we went to the GC recently in the cold spell, I looked for all the Budd's and I couldn't find them in their usual place.... I was told to look under an enormous amount of fleece.....some people know how to treat them!!!

Do they? Budds still die down here so maybe it is the soft ninny fleece treatment at the GC that kills them in our gardens.
The miracle is that baby budd despite having orange golden wriglies around in the soil still lives.

I'll be pointing mine to the sky probably. Just like me to go for hight. A minor warning, despite my age I still like to climb trees so I hope the fence behind me is strong enough as I will be up it before you know. Rosefriend is wiser and stays down where the high winds can't whip her flowers off. I suppose it would not surprise me if I am a white or a purple and Rf a somewhat warmer colour ;D
Thanx for taking such good care of us Amo.
Baby bud at MssK is not doing well. I'll see if it survives.

Update. Although baby budd has lost a side shoot there still is one shoot going and it now appears to be growing. It might still survive

Well, at the risk of being branded a Budd-slayer by RF and Dutchy, my wall monster has been sawn off level with the wall, the stump wrapped in a rag soaked in vinegar, and then wrapped in a black bag! I'm now working on using some of the branches (which will provide me with canes for years to come) to make a 'climbing frame' for the solanum and passionflower which had started climbing up the ex-Bud ... cheers ...

Hm might try that on a stump of a plum tree that keeps on shooting. As for baby still there but I forgot the picture ...... It is now forced to stay alive another day ;D

Wellllll - I am still debating whether to talk to CC actually......rag soaked in vinegar, black plastic bag and the added insult of being able to use the branches as canes for years to come........
It is only after three years that the stem of my Budd are thicker than a matchstick!!
Dutchy, do hope that we get a chance to see the Miracle before it becomes a thing of our dreams.......

I know it must seem like sacrilege, RF but it really was causing problems - not only cracking the wall but taking the evening sun - not to worry, it still has loads of relatives around the place (actually, my non-gardening neighbour's wall monster is trying to invade) .... cheers ...
