How strange. I haven't seen this thread before. I don't really have any ornaments as such in the garden unless the two bird baths count. I hate to see garden gnomes, and I'm not too keen on fairies either (sorry Pam!). Andy's gargoyles and Easter Island statues are something else though. I might just make a space for something like that.

I'm not a huge fan of having lots of garden ornaments. I only have 1 small flowerpot man, which sits on my trellis and peers out from the clematis and chilean glory flower, two green man wall plaques to "watch over the garden" and one small celtic wall plaque. Unfortunately, no pics at the mo.

Just been looking back on this thread at the ornaments I had in 2007. A couple have gone now, one of my blue birds got broke, OH had a splurge a few weeks ago on taking rubbish to the tip and took some of my old garden tools and the butchers chopper but I've still got most of the others Since clearing OH's parents house for selling I've aquired a few more bits and bobs. They had loads so I just kept a select few. A couple of frogs on toad stools, 2 stone fox cubs, a stone owl, a wood pecker wall plaque and a stone bird bath to name a few. Will posts pics soon

Get yer finger out then Must admit my garden gets more and more 'ornaments' these days as I try to find something in the charity shops that can go outside, I've got far too many knick knacks in the house!

We haven't got many "ornaments as such " - bit of kitch here and there in pots but OH likes lighting and recently I looked outside from the bedroom window after dark and our garden looks like a runway on Bremen Airport...lit up all the length of the garden on both sides!!!
I have suggested that when we can get into the garden and stuff starts growing again then we moving some lights, either into tubs or in the garden a bit more...at least we won't have anything trying to land...

Get yer finger out then TigWell here is my mottley crew of ornaments that I've aquired recently, I've still got to find proper homes for them Very sad looking isn't he, he needed a good home and also needs a lick of paint These pair also need a lick of paint Owly owly Smilie smilie The fox cubs The look lovely in the right place, I've just bunged them in a pot for now A kingfisher, which I think I called a woodpecker before Swinging girl, not sure if I should paint her ? Not sure what this is, it should be hanging on a wall maybe The bird bath in the background was one we bought for OH's parent several years ago, it seemed only fitting we should have it back Lady statue Cute Oink Oink

I love the square smilie and all the toadstools big and small. I would'nt paint the little girl and I think the seed holder looks fine where it is Chuckles . The bird bath looks great too, one day I will get one.

I wouldn't paint anything, they have a lovely 'weathered' look - coveting the owl, the smilie smilie and the glazed shrooms

I meant to say that I wouldn't paint anything either - shabby chic is a good look!

If you had seen all the ornaments they had got, we got rid of some gave others away and sent some to the local auctions. I wanted to keep quite a few more but had to be realistic OH said so Not sure if anyone looks on this site www.achica.com/promotion/Adobe they have some nice bits every now and again. I love the Balancing Love Birds and the Glum Birds are rather cute.

Ohh, looking forward to that Chuckles! I'd love an old watering can. There's a shop in the next village that sells stuff like that but he is soooo expensive.

They are ridiculously expensive to buy in the shops Jasmine infact anything galvanised is. Well a medium churn and waterng can with a very fat spout arrived last night but there is also a large churn and 2 more small ones and a chimney pot to be unloaded when OH gets back from work

They've all arrived A full sized milk churn and a baby one, both painted. The other is the same size as the small green one, photo makes it look bigger. None have lids though. I particularly like these next 2, shame the churn doesn't have a lid. The watering can has hell of a huge spout, not seen one like that before I just love love love this chimney pot

Those are smashing buys Chuckles The Chimney pot and the Churn would be my favourites but I like them all. You did well, have you thoughts of where you will put them all?

Never seen a watering can like that Chuckles - I wonder what its use was - must have been for something specific. Love the chimney pot and the churns especially the slightly dumpier ones!

I'm well pleased with them Ladygardener and Jasmine and all for the bargain price of £20. I've not thought of where to put them yet or how I'll use them yet but it will come to me at some point I'm sure I reckon that watering can must have had a special use of some kind Jasmine, bit of research required me thinks.

I'd say it had a very specific use indeed Chuckles, it would be interesting to know what it was.

I've not managed found anything that looks even vaguely like my watering can below. I hadn't noticed either that the spout was coming from the top rather than on the side either like on a traditional watering can Containers I have found with top spouts and a handle have all related to oil/fuel

I think it would look great planted up with something with silvery leaves and a pink flower Chuckles.

I found one for sale on the US Ebay site and interestingly it was labelled as an oil can although the seller didn't seem to be sure! You can almost see it being used by the gardener in a big house to fill the paraffin greenhouse heaters and the shape would have stopped anyone muddling it with an ordinary watering can...although you'd think the smell when in use would have done that!
If you put 'galvanised oil cans' into Google images you get an assortment of top spout cans!

At the moment its just stood on the path looking decorative Ladygardener but I like you idea. Yes Jasmine I looked at some of those. Had a giggle at some which looked like they could be related to elephants, the ones with the downward curved spouts, then I saw one which was curved up hill and rather long
