Having looked into the question of adding extra smileys, it appears that this is indeed possible. The favourite option is for the extra ones to be displayed in a dropdown menu in the space to the left of the Message Reply box. I know that a 'hug' smiley of some description is a hot favourite. This is the one I have found so far, but I realise that there are many others. I am not sure how many extra smileys can be accommodated in the new smiley area, but it will be at least five and probably not limited at all. I just haven't tried it with multiple ones yet. So if anyone has any particular preference for extra smileys, could they please post them - ideally with examples - on this thread and I will sort something out. Spruance

We definitely need a hug smiley. And a "2 fingers" smiley wouldn't go amiss either !!
I like some of Lottie's smileys like the drink one etc. Perhaps you could get people to put their best ones on here and just pick the best of the best.

Spruance, that's not a hug, it's a great big snog! But I like it! ;D I have to say, I did like the <doh> smiley on the Beeb, I used to use it often, especially when I had said something daft! How about this for comfort, And this drunk one I like too,

If you're choosing from the ones suggested, please can I put in a vote for at least one of the hugs, a doh of some kind, & Plocket's behind the sofa one? I have some other favourites but I can't work out how to get them here from other sites <see, this is where a doh would come in handy smiley>

Well there's a good and fairly varied selection there and having experimented elsewhere it looks as though there is no limit to the number of (extra) smilies. I have tried ten together so far and all seem to work ok. So I think it is fairly safe to set up the code on GWD. Watch this space! ;D

I will see if I can track them down.

Have sent you a pm, Spruance. And just realised I think I said the first one I mentioned is in the centre of the page - actually it's over to the left (hopefully that will make sense when you see pm!).

that's just reminded me spruance, another webmaster mate of ours who ran our football board many years ago, used to use as his "walks away whistling smilie" when he'd given out some techy advice that he wasn't sure of. ;D
