Hi all, Hope the weather has been kind to you all this weekend. I was hoping someone could tell me what this is: It's like a light brown powdery blotchy thing. It only seems to be affecting one particular grass type plant growing in a bed of scattered annual seeds. Should I pull them out?

It looks like a sort of Rust to me - you could probably spray it with a systemic fungicide.Someone else will give you a better answer I am sure

It looks like a Rust to me too - have you checked the underneath for greeblies though Jonah? I'd remove the leaves and put them in the rubbish bin (don't compost them). It has been very warm and humid, perfect for rust to appear. Try to keep the area weed free around the plant so the air can circulate freely and don't feed anything close to it. I don't think it's anything life threatening!

Thank you ladies. Strange that it has only affected one type of plant, scattered in a bed. They are quite close to a perspex wall, so maybe that's increased the humidity. I haven't checked for nasties, I was keeping away until I had an idea of what it was. ;D I'll have a nose around. I haven't got a fungicide either. Don't suppose I can try washing the leaves, can I? Is it unsightly, rather than damaging? I'd rather try to keep them if I can. It's in a bed the children planted, and I feel like a monster uplifting their plants. ;D

Oooh, I've found beasties! Hope you can see this clearly: They are tiny [1-2mm], reddy brown and wriggling. Anyone ID them, or point me somewhere I can? I don't want to evict them if they aren't going to do too much damage, I am trying to encourage wildlife! ;D

Me again ;D The bugs are still there. They don't appear to be doing much, I don't think they are eating the leaves. Anyone got any ideas?
