Spent ages in the garden yesterday clearing all the fallen leaves, got up this morning and the garden was covered again Cleared them all up today, came in for a cuppa and I've just looked out the window and guess what...... The garden is covered AGAIN!!!! Thing is, if I don't clear them up and leave them for a few days it makes the job harder and takes twice as long!! Should have put this on the whinge thread Oh well off out to have another go.

Has anyone else got a choisya ternata? Mines started flowering again! Is this unusual? I thought they flowered late spring. Just bringing this forward from previous page. I know it's been a funny year and that others have had things flowering twice.

My Dahlias aren't still going strong as are my Cosmos, but I know what Andy means. Most of my Busy Lizzies have now gone to seed and are flopping over so I'll probably be clearing those out this evening after collecting the seed. There was a definite chill in the air this morning. If nothing else, I'm looking forward to getting the real fire going this Autumn so off next weekend to stock up on coal and firewood.

Shrub Mine's flowering again too. FA x Have you noticed it before Andy? Mine's flowered for the first time this year and I know they can be 'pernickety'. Moved it as well and know they dont like being disturbed. Thought we'd lost it and then this. Strange.

How come our swalows have not gone yet than? GB ones obviously did a runner, Germany ditto. Why are the Dutch ones still in place.
No please do not tell me winter is going to be just like summer only colder... I was so looking forward to a real winter. With frost and skating and hot beverages on the ice and laughing at your own silly moves as things are bldy slippery. And some nice autumn days before that please... PLEASE ?
The leaves have not begun falling yet. The autumn reds are still not there, some yellows are trying their luck but that is it....

New apple tree. I think it is still learning then ;D Although I have some flowers on my Viburnum opulus Roseum. That too normally flowers in Spring only. Maybe it is on a crash course on when to flower since the Spring we had was far too warm for the poor springflowering shrubs.

It is nice to have it in flower though.

My garden thinks that it's autumn anyway. The leaves on my acers are starting to change...I've been preparing the tender plants as well...a lot of my more precious plants are all tucked away in the GH and conservatory....and the fleece 'pillowcases' are all ready to tuck away the more tender plants that can't be moved under cover. I've got my bulbs as well....always a sign that autumn's almost here

No shrubrose, Choisya ternata often have a second flowering in the Autumn, sometimes as good as the Spring one! Thanks SR. That's great! I've had them a few years and they're getting quite established now. It's been their first year flowering. They have such a lovely scent. I thought this second 'flush' might have had something to do with the funny weather we've had this year.

I leave them for a while - they encourage the blackbirds. Eventually I'll get out and rake them off the grass

I have that problem too Sara although we are still getting a little bit of sun at the far end of the garden (makes it sound massive!! ;D ) I clicked the thermostat up a notch this morning and later on worried why I was still freezing. I checked the radiators and they were all cold so I started worrying that the heating was bust. OH came home for lunch and I said that I was cold and that the heating wasn't working. He said he'd turned it off upstairs last night!!! So it's on again now, and I'm nice and warm ;D

Oooo CONGRATULATIONS RBJ!!! It will be a GLORIOUS day no matter what I went round closing all the windows yesterday - the ones that were locked open just a tiny crack. I forgot the one in the downstairs loo and OH said it was "rather parky" in there this morning ;D There wasn't a frost though!
