Jenny cut around the fruit trees and flower beds and poly tunnel and gh and raised beds etc.... out back with the electric mower, her oh cuts the grass with the sit on one and not only does he always have the blades too high but he does'nt come up to the edges either. It looks a lot better now that Jenny has done it. I took loads of the leaves off the tomatoes and squash and did some weeding feeding and dead heading. I've also dug up about a dozen or more Teasel plants before they get any bigger. We do let some grow of course but prefer not to have them swamp things out.

I gave the garden a quick sweep to try and stay on top of the leaves but the wind kept blowing them back... I'm sure the big leaves will start to drop soon...

I've raked up leaves twice now Missy and it's not a long, hot, dry summer that is making the trees drop their leaves! Planted a few things out and tidied up under the rhododendron at the bottom of the garden. It didn't look very healthy this time last year but now it has lots of new shoots.

I watered the beds at the bottom of the garden under the trees, the plants do struggle a bit under there. I mulched the beds with a bit of left over manure after I'd done the watering. I also took some salvia and penstemon cuttings.
All the camellias and rhoddies got a feed and so did the pots in the front garden.

I've spread leaf mould at the top of the garden, planted little daffodils in a pot with wallflowers, watered the pots and baskets and cut back and dead headed what needed, also split a house plant into 4 pieces and put them on shelves and cupboards.

Well, last time we were at the plot I dug up a huge clump of Alchemilla mollis. Yesterday I spent ages dividing it, it was almost as difficult as dividing a hosta!! Anyhow I've planted out some of them and still have others to do. It's a plant I really love and have grown it for years, I find it behaves well if you cut off the flowers as they're turning into seed. Other than that, I've planted out some of the Viola we got a couple of weeks ago, did some dead heading and weeding.

Yesterday I started making a new flower bed, I need a new flower bed because I haven't got enough edges to keep neat and tidy yet!!! Actually, what I really want is a bed that gets full sun all day!

Watering, deadheading and chopped back the bridal wreath spirea that had put on so much new growth it was blocking access to the WIG, I accidentally pruned a couple of branches off one of the nearby hibiscus too. Tried to tackle it at a time of day when there was less mozzie activity, so far I don't seem to have any new itches.

Well that's a positive step anyhow Tig. I've dug up and relocated a pyrecantha we planted last year, watered all the new buys, did some deadheading and cut back some of the branches from one of the cherry trees and the willow, I wanted to get it done for ages.

I potted on spring cabbage, I'll plant them out and cover them at the end of the month, dug out and potted up lots of calendula seedlings, added comfrey and nettles to the compost bays, and watered in the GH, the potatoes for Christmas are through so topped them up, picked toms and cucumbers, I've been told two people from the same address can't have a plot because there's a big waiting list, so I've told a committee lady I've left Derek and now live with my friend Janice.

Dug up the last new potatoes and watered the pots, it was like yesterday - too sticky hot to do any sort of work. I did manage some dead heading as well!

I've deadheaded the calendulas & cosmos again, and tidied up the buddleia on the front, it has lovely white flowers but looks tatty when they go brown, all cut back and in the brown bin, and it has just rained for 2 minutes, stopped and sun is out again now.

I've planted my Jasmine on the arch, had to dig out some lawn to do it, so dug some out the other side to match up and planted out wallflowers in there, took the Nemisia out of the box next to the front door and filled that with some too, will put some tulips in later, watered it all in then topped up with leaf mould, got a long knife then and took out a dozen or more dandilions out of the lawn, lord knows how many more there are, it was raining ''clocks'' a few months ago, I deadheaded the cosmos too, and sweet peas.

Ive lit the smoke candle in the greenhouse this afternoon and barred the door so the dogs cant get a wiff !!I should have cleaned it first but it has spiders in so that will have to be done later before it is closed up for the winter.
I intended doing some hoeing but couldn't because I had it in the greenhouse.

I've had a busy morning, I dug out 2 huge clumps of white phlox, some iris and some crocosmia, now I have a nice big planting space I've covered in leaf mould and I'll let it alone for a while, it was so dry in there, I've planted some wallflowers along the front of the bed.
I've chopped everything up and Derek ran the mower over it

Spent a couple of hours on the allotments, changed lots of strawberry plants, took the nets off the sprouts and got rid of the lower leaves, the white fly are in again but so is the robin now, watered the spring cabbage, I'll plant them out next week, took some toms and watered the pots, the melon has about 6 fruits on it, don't think they will ripen though, I was late planting it this year, Derek weeded the paths and rhubarb bed.

My old hedgehog house had squatters and once rats do so it is the end of the hoghouse as their stench will keep hoggy away. It was falling apart anyhow so I build a new one from all the scrap wood I had idling about.

I've had a good tidy up on the side terrace, weeded & tidies all the hydrangea pots and watered them, planted two pots of mint in one big pot, then put it into an old low trough, along with two ornamental bronze grasses, a carnation and an agapanthus grown from seed. Chucked lots of grasses I'd potted on, I've not got round to finding spaces and I kept tripping over the trays so they've been binned. Swept it all up after weeding, so many weeds this year blowing in the overgrown garden of the bungalow two doors down. I pruned some branches off the cotinus coggygria as they were over the path, and the physocarpus had a trim back. Two salvias and a rock rose also got a good prune as they had travelled halfway across a path. The calendula & roses were deadheaded, and the dahlias. Last years tulips I dug up needed attention, one tray was full of water! I've rescued & cleaned what hasn't rotted and put them in the a growhouse that doesn't leak (I hope). Watered the WIG, still a few toms & peppers to ripen.

Jenny is motoring on with revamping a large area of the garden and it's looking great. Lots of stuff removed some of which will be rehomed and Dahlias, Roses, Hydrangea,Salvias and Geraniums added, there's still more to do but she has also added organic material and home made compost so going forward it should be easier to maintain.
I've been dead heading and planting out Viola and picking raspberries tomatoes and cucumber. Where the salad leaves and rocket were growing in a large trough, I let self seed when they were finished and now have tons of lovely new salad coming up. I've covered it all with glass to keep out weeds and keep it going, it's in a sheltered spot anyhow so we should have leaves for some time to come.

We have been on the allotments this afternoon, my was it hot, anyway we planted out spring cabbages and covered them with nets to keep the pigeons off, Derek repaired the wheelbarrow, then we moved the compost in that to the bottom of the plot, and I dug out beetroot, leeks and picked runner beans, tidying up mostly from now on.

I've done lots of cutting back and tidying up in the back garden, dug out more orange crocosmia and watered pots and baskets, spread home made compost around both at home and on the allotment where I spent a couple of hours this afternoon, covered the beetroot with soil and compost, no idea why they have started poking through, pulled the French bean plants and ate a pear off the tree, it was delicious.
