Did you see it? I thought it was FANTASTIC, and even OH enjoyed it. I'm keen to visit Mexico and Cuba now. What really made the programme for me was the variety of gardens and gardening he was showing. Wonderful stuff - I can't wait for next week

It was really quite good. I'd love to go to the Edward James one.
I've finaly discovered what it is that bugs me about MD. I want to iron his clothes and I hate ironing! Why is he so scruffy!!!!

Mmm the clothes don't bother me too much. He'd look a bit of an idiot walking around gardens, smelling soil and stuff if he wore a suit!!! ;D

I thought it was brilliant - loved the section in Cuba and the community gardens - wish I could get the love straight rows on my lottie! I knew about Edward James as being in the south I'm not far from West Dean House near Chichester where every year they have the Totally Tomato fesitival - keep promising to go and never make it - too much to do in the garden!
Plocket - yes there is a book and an offer in Feb's GW magazine.
Chuckles - the prog is going to be repeated at 7pm on Tuesday if you can get hold of the remote!
I'm pleased he's gone to the unusual and unheard of gardens. Looking forward to next week!

I LOVED it! Really interesting, informative, inspirational and a bit different. I thought it was fascinating to see the Barrigan gardens - I'd never heard of him - and it makes you realise that Diarmuid Gavin is not quite as innovative as he would like us to believe.... I loved the whole ethos of the vegetable gardens in Cuba and thought the Cacti Botanic Garden was absolutely glorious. (Run out of superlatives now.... ;D) Can't wait for the next one..

The written word strikes again - I thought that "don't get BBC here" meant that BBC2 is not receivable in SW France, not as perceived. Let sleeping dogs lie, please.

Apologies to Sandra if I did read it wrong but the syntax is confusing and harsh with exclamation marks too. May be it's because I have come over from the other site where 'my way or no way' seems to be the order. I'm sure the Beeb will not miss out on an opportunity to sell you all the book and DVD very soon either! ;D

I enjoyed it although I thought it was more of a travelogue than a garden programme. Mind you I think that MD is far more of a presenter than he is a gardener. We are using the series to inform where we are going to go on future holidays ( definitely Central America ) and with that in mind can't wait for the one on India where we're going next year.Am looking forward to the rest of the series

I enjoyed last nights programme but didn't think it was as diverse as the first one. I loved it when he leaped on that New Zealand plant though, and then crawled around with the lens

You can see where the dificulty in defining 'What is a Garden' is though.
There was a modified/managed type parkland classed as a garden and a sculputural space. I loved the Dame's garden and the one at the end in NZ. Both these are gardens that seemed to evolve and grow.
And judging by the amount of macro photos posted on here, we're not the only ones going around with a magnifying lens!!! ;D ;D ;D

;D OOps cought with our noses down ;D I loved that Australian garden that the younger of those two ladies made. And I loved it when she said she just plonked plants in and Monty told her that that was what the best gardeners did. Whohee away with the difficult drawings of things that will look different anyhow. Once I am ready a photo will be enough of a "plan" there need to be.

I've only watched part of it so far, but I did like that private garden with all the red rocks. It is totally different from anything I have in my garden tho! Didn't like all the spider close ups tho Jardack
