Mine will definitely be my Arthur Bell. Growing really tall at the moment with at least seven large buds ready to flower
Such a hardy rose this never gets greenfly or any other disease highly recommended

Mine will be Rose de Rescht as always - again a very resistant old rose.
It is definately one of my favourites.

Beautiful jennywrenn - I love yellow roses that start life as red/yellow buds.
Try and take a pic of one when it is fully open.
I would love to see it.......

Except for Kiftsgate which has one set of flowers followed by hips, and Guinee which seems to be concentrating on new branches, all my roses are producing buds and flowers at the mo, even the rugosa.

Arthur is very very fragrant OMS and has very glossy leaves - I will go and check him later - bit dark at the moment - to see if he has little spikey thorns like the one in your photo on his stems

My Altissimo flowered well into December last year, so I wouldn't like to bet against that being my last rose in flower!

Beautiful jennywrenn - it looks really good - I have a rose in the garden that is very similar but it has a German name - doesn't mean a great deal as they can change the name - I will try and find out what the English name is.

I was out deadheading my roses today - there are buds on National Trust, Altissimo, White Cockade, and Southampton - at this rate I'll have roses for Christmas again!
They'll go well with the oriental poppies, which also often flower again in mid-December, and are all set to do the same again this year - buds on two of them already <baffled but pleased smiley>

Oh Juliet thanks for mention about poppies
I did wonder why my poppies are sprouting new leaves and what looks like buds
Will the frost not kill them off - I never noticed last year that they flowered again - maybe cos they are in a container this year

Hi Jenny,
My poppies always sprout new leaves in the autumn & are green throughout the winter. The frost sometimes kills the buds, but once they're in flower they seem to be fine. I only get the odd flower though - not a big display like I get in the summer! But I have had poppies out for Christmas before now ;D . That's in Cambridge of course, in a fairly sheltered garden - don't know how well they'll survive oop north!

My rambling rose (alberic barbier) is flowering! - bizarre, unlike my others which I expect to see in flower at this time of year because they're all repeat flowering, it usually only flowers for about a week in June! Think it must be seriously confused .
