It's a celendine Sara ! ;D A woodland flower (bulblet) which is related to the buttercup (rununculus sp). Comes up this time of year and then dies down again. They spread everywhere There is a purple leaved variety called 'Brazen hussey' which is nice.

I have just been into the garden with a torch and checked both and I favour Andy's celendine at the moment but there are very similar. I will have another look in the morning.

Must admit Andy that they drive me mad - I once spend all Spring a couple of years ago digging them out and the garden is full of them again.
Mind you better than ground elder.....

I've got Brazen Hussy in my garden and, as you can see from my sig, I think they look lovely. That's coming from somebody who isn't keen on yellow flowers! ;D

Hi Sara It looks like Celendine to me too. - This is a picture of mine in my back garden. - Not the best picture sorry. It is very hard to get rid of just like ground elder. - But if you keep on top of it it's not too bad. I've also got cyclemen in my garden too I will take a photo of that tomorrow.
