I don't suppose anyone has got a picture of tiny astrantia seedlings have they? I have a tub which I sowed the seeds in last November which has been outside all winter and I think, maybe, perhaps..there might be 3 baby astrantias in it.........I'm not counting my chickens until they've hatched but I don't think they're weed seedlings....ooh, I do hope I'm right! This is my 3rd attempt.........I need confirmation, please....

Yes please Jennywren - just to confirm it. I am not taking anything for granted here! I don't think I've got any top tips jlottie - I think it's more luck than my skill! These are the seedlings I sowed last Autumn, having given up on the previous two attempts. I just slung them in a deep seed tray ( actually an ice cream container) used JI seed mix and left them on a table, slightly sheltered but open to wind, rain and cold and left them to it. I was so sure they wouldn't do anything I didn't even label them! I don't think I even watered them much last month when it was so hot. They must like being treated mean...... Eeh, I'm so pleased!

I will take a piccy in the morning as they seem to close up overnight - they are not Ruby Glow sorry to mislead you - I did sow those and not sure if they will come up but have two really nice Madeleines up - they are a cream/lime green colour

Ooh, that is gorgeous! They are just as beautiful underneath aren't they? I seem to be obsessed with creamy/green flowers at the moment - must be a phase I'm going through! Thanks Jenny!

I think I got the site from a link someone else posted somewhere [can't remember who or where], so I can't take all the credit. But I do like to share. ;D

Oh, how I smiled at these messages. Astrantia seedlings in my garden are even worse than Alchemilla. They self-seed everywhere, and are quite hard to remove even when small. But I think they are quite difficult to grow from a seed packet. One of the great unanswered questions of the universe! However, I am not complaining, Astrantia is one of my favourite plants, and it is worth all the weeding.
