Hello all of you lovely people <onmykneesgrovellingsmiley>! My boss has just bought me a Musa lasiocarpa.......FANBLINKINTASTIC...........but, I cannot find the species 'lasiocarpa' in any of my books! Please can anybody enlighten me on this species and, if it's hardy and also if it will be ok potted on in JI No2! Thanking you grovellingly S x

Sorry for the just adding links....t'was early in't mornin !!!
I have a lasiocarpa and mine died right back even though it was in my conservatory (min 10 c). The shoots have now nome back from where it died....there is one main stem with about 5 smaller ones at the bottom.
What they do is when they die back, the stems seal up after the leaves have dropped off. This prevents excess water getting in i presume. When spring arrives, these little seals at the tip of each stem need to be cut to allow it to open better and start growing. I did this with mine and it was fine.
As for hardiness....it's supposed to be one of the hardiest and certainly root hardy. Give it some fleece or straw....maybe put an old chimney pot on it, stuff with straw and cover the top to keep out winter wet.

I think I'll take my chances and leave it outside and fleece it up for the winter! If I put the pot under the eaves of the house then it shouldn't get rained on.......hopefully!
