I have bought two small ones today for a couple of Obelisks - just for the summer - how easy it is to take cuttings from them?

Very easy, RF - take a couple of non-flowering tips, a bit of rooting powder and Bob's your uncle (mmmmh - who was Bob, anyway?). Is it Alba you have, or Glasnevin? - Glasnevin is supposed to be hardier ... cheers ...

I am not sure which sort it is to be honest but I will take some cuttings a little later - I do hope that I can keep them over the winter.
Thanks CC.

RF, the blue one is Glasnevin and supposed to tolerate quite a bit of frost ... cheers ...

They have just started flowering and they are Alba CC - I am still going to have a go at cuttings - perhaps I can keep them overwinter.

One last footnote on the demise of my SA. This year I have had, and am still getting, great displays and flourishing growth on several plants that had been looking sick or even thought dead and gone! Honeysuckles and clematis have filled the former "occupied territory" very nicely so not sad at all about losing it now it was a terrible thug

Sorry about the demise, but glad the spot is filled, NO - didn't you also have an Eccremarcarpus earmarked for there? ... cheers ...

They're fine CC, and filling in more gaps, mostly lower down though not many flowers yet cos they got a bit straggly over the winter and I cut them back to bush 'em up a bit Still, the foliage is lovely on its own

RF, did you take cuttings? I've a cutting-grown Glasnevin - the real deal this time - which I hope to plant out in the autumn; following advice here, I've been pinching out like mad to avoid the naked-leg syndrome ... cheers ...
