Geez you are brave - they'll probably take over your garden in the warmer climate. I will pack their bags shortly and despatch them - don't blame me when they become triffids, you have been warned At least they are only babies at the moment, look harmless enough

Not much spreads here Tig, although they do quite like the damp I've been looking for some which spread for ages so I'd be really grateful thanks

Ratibida Red Midget are up and looking good, brought pinnata in from WIG as it hasn't been warm enough for them to germinate in there.

I've lost count of the packets of Cherry Brandy I've sown over the years Jasmine, don't think I've ever had one germinate yet, in fact i'm a bit rubbish with Rudbeckias generally, you did well with the ones you shared with me last year though didn't you. I gave up this year & have got 20 plugs coming from Suttons (Cappuccino I think ). 20 will be far too many for me, I'm going to send a couple to Tig, did you want a couple too ? If you want a big display of them though I think I saw that they'd been reduced on the Suttons site the other week. The only things that I've got left to sow now are MGs, Shiva that I saved from Jasmine's seed from last year, an old pack of Heavenly Blue that I found & some Mina Lobata, I'll have to have a sort out first though as all the others are taking up quite a lot of space now they're pricked out & the Toms will have to be potted on soon.

I have got Cherry Brandy to germinate OK at a fluctuating temperature 15-20c with a bag over the pot and plenty of light. I think rudbeckias may be one of those plants which grow better the fresher the seed, so perhaps you both got duff ones Last years plants have survived the winter and are sprouting well, I will try and save some fresh seed for you when they flower.

I'd love a couple Jilly - wasn't it cappuccino that I grew last year? Thanks for the tips Tig. I did so well with the cappuccino seeds last year I wasn't expecting any trouble but I've got no cherry brandy germinated at all and 4 prairie sun came up but 2 have keeled over. I'd love fresh seed please! SR's is obviously duff!

Had to have 2 goes with her Malope seed too Jasmine, I think you're right it was cappuccino that you grew last year, some sort of coffee anyway . I had a sort out of the growhouses & the spare room to free up some space, then went & spoiled it all but sowing the MGs & Mina Lobata & some Gaillardia that Ladygardener kindly sent me, so now I'm no further forward with freeing up space to pot the toms on, especially as the weather forecast is for colder nights so nothing else can really go out to the growhouse atm. I seem to have also forgotten that the arrival of the Rudbeckia is imminent too

You made me laugh Jilly, you're doing just the same things as I am. I was playing musical chairs with pots yesterday as well but then potted on some seedlings into bigger pots and now I've no room for half of them. Recent sowings include Mina Lobata given to me a while ago by either Dutchy or Rosefriend. I'd tried them before but had no luck so fingers crossed this time. I sowed Coreopsis Marti Gras and Cosmos Double Click and when I went to write it down in my book, I found that I'd sown the Marti Gras before I went to theinsidegardener so I might end up having 2 lots. Thankfully I only sowed a few each time.

I sowed my indigo rose seeds yesterday, some lewisia cotyldon seeds, and some matucana sweet pea seeds (I know I'm late with them but thought I'd give them a go anyway), and scattered some zinnia faberge mix and gypsophlia convent garden. Have so many packets of seeds that I think I might just have to admit to myself I wont have room for everything this year!

We've all been there theinsidegardener sometimes you just have to leave some for next time. Your Sweetpea will bloom later in the summer and most likely go on well into autumn so don't worry about sowing later. I sowed some a week or so ago for that very reason.

After sowing the cosmos psyche I had to put them in the WIG due to space issues Surprise, surprise they had all germinated today!! Also got a pot of the golden berry pineapple, three ratiba pinnata so far, 2 chrysanth Polar Star, signs of germination on the codonopsis, and four little seedlings of the thalictrum ichangense are up too

Well done Tig! I am going to sow more cosmos tomorrow, can never have enough. I am talking to different people every day and thinking they would just love a gift of a cosmos - I gave some to a friend last year and now she's converted to sowing her own this year. I feel it's my mission to have the world growing cosmos lol.

Nothing happened with the 1st sowing and I have tried several times to grow Scabiosa with no luck. This time, I just covered the seed with perlite, put them into a plastic bag and set them behind the TV near the window. It was the only place left to put them as everywhere else was ful.

Most of my seedlings are doing well, the bummers this year have been the Sunflowers of all things!!
Anyhow, almost at the end of what I'm sowing for this year. Today I sowed some yellow Courgette Soleil F1 and some Black Beauty Courgettes. Also sowed a couple of Pumpkin Mars F1 as well. Now that I'm moving things on and outside I have room to grow them. Oh and to keep the succession going I sowed a couple more pots of Hurst Greenshaft Peas. Fingers crossed.

I will attempt to sow direct this weekend, yes i will learn, at least my 3 cosmos are now outside getting used to weather, not many at all when i had about 12-15 at first Oh i must tell you in January (yes far too cold) i took off cuttings from pinks and put a plastic bag on them, they took by March, my first ever cutting is now in flower, little pinks coming out im a proud parent
