I'm so stupid I annoy myself sometimes, I sowed lupin seeds a couple of weeks ago and saw nothing, so I moved the tray outside and started to take some of the compost to top up another tray, and knocked the head off 2 that were just starting to grow.

I think that last lot of snow and freezing wind has killed my hellebore seedlings I had two black beauty germinated and 6 mixed doubles, they all look dead. Sowed melanthus major (9) and ricinus communis gibsonii (4) today.

Hope you have better luck with your SP this time Barbara. I've got some "Teddy Bear" Sunflower just germinated and now you've reminded me, I'll sow some others over the weekend. I did sow some "Early Flowering Mix" seeds, I've been sowing these for a few years now and I like the assortment of flowers they produce. I sow them in little pinches and plant the whole cell out together when they're big enough.

The early flowering mix have started to germinate already in the kitchen so I've moved them to the covered back. Definitely the sunflowers will be sown today.

I resowed some marigolds as the first lot failed, the seeds that I sowed last week (pack dated 2016) have all started to germinate...the first lot were saved from last years flowers...wonder why they didn't germinate

Not sure why they did'nt germinate Missredhead, perhaps they were'nt completely ripe when you harvested them or maybe they were stored too warm... Sometimes things I harvest don't germinate but when they do I breathe a sign of relief. I was sowing french marigolds yesterday too, the end of an open pk and if they don't germinate I've a new pk that should. Naughty Marietta.

I might..I'll have to buy some though as I have none left... I was going to put them with the morning glory but as the morning glory all germinated I'm not sure if there's going to be room in the pot for sweet peas too... When do plant them out?... I remember one year I put them out and they were doing really well and then we got a frost and I lost them all..😥

The same happened to me Missredhead, they are supposed to be OK down to -10, but mine were ruined, I had them in pots so I don't know if that was the problem, mine aren't going out until the end of the month this time.

Amazed today to spot new shoots appearing in some of the pots of paeonia peregrina, I only sowed them on 26/9/17 - usually it takes two years before they germinate naturally. I think there is also signs of a shoot in one of the paeonia delavayi pots! Resown tithonia this morning.

I went ahead and sowed Courgette Black Beauty this morning. It's been a couple of years now since I grew them and fancy giving them another go at the plot this year as I do have room for them.
