I did some more little leo yesterday, I think they will look good in the side garden, but they will have to be well staked, it's very windy along there.

Absolutely stunned to notice signs of life in the iris ensata cup winners pot I sowed last December. They went outside after a month indoors, and I was doubtful if they would ever appear. Snow, freezing, rain, bit of mild, back to frost, the heatwave and I now have five shoots in the pot! I tried to remember to water them if we had a prolonged dry spell, apart from that they have germinated of their own accord. I do hope I can grow them on successfully. Also, I planted out some quite small seedlings of PODOPHYLLUM HEXANDRUM (EMODI) last year and was well chuffed to see them re-emerge, still very small but recognisable.

I have one seedling appeared in the pot of acis autumnalis I sowed back in November last year and left out in the cold. (Although the blackbird has just been back and uprooted several other seedlings I have in pots, give me a pea shooter someone!!!)

I was delighted the other day, to see 2 little Geranium Pratense, Purple Haze in the cells I sowed them in last September. I've pricked them out and given them a small pot each.
At the plot yesterday I sowed hundreds of seeds along the communal bank, many poppies along with different wild flowers and those for woodland areas and pollinators. We'll see how they take.

I can't really sow at the moment as I'll be in Jenny's next week but I have loads to do when I get back. I did sow some Mitzuna and more Rocket a few weeks ago and they're thriving.

I've done some cornflowers, some nicotiana, in trays and cal. poppy into the garden, covered with netting to keep the squirrel off, the foxgloves have germinated, all I have to do now is get them separated.

Oh no it has to be springtime Barbara, they'll romp away then, they're not at all hardy. You could do Digitalis, Calendula, Poppies, Cerinthe at the end of the month.

Oh and of course Sweetpea in October Barbara, all of them will give earlier stronger flowers if sown late summer autumn.

I've done foxgloves, and calendula do them selves, so do nigella, though I've tried a tray of those but it dried out with the heat, I've no room for sweet peas I do those in spring, I think I'm up on the things to sow now then. thanks.

I've made a boo-boo, I sowed nicotiana in trays because I read they would overwinter in a mild winter, now I'm reading they wont and they are an inch tall, will they be OK in the GH till next year or are they for the compost bin.

I've had a look around the web Barbara and can only see them grown as annuals to be protected from frost. As you already have seedlings and they are tender, you could try overwintering them in the growhouse or growing them on and having them in the window of a cool room.

I have sown erythronium grandiflorum, thalictrum alpinum and roscoea species mixed and they are being left outside to stratify. Sown dierama Spring Dancer, Autumn Sparkler and adlephicum, and iris pseudacorus clotted cream and innominota cup winners mixed in single pots which are being kept in the front bedroom. If the iris don't germinate within 6 weeks I will put them outside.

I have scarified and soaked paeonia officinalis seeds, and am soaking dietes grandiflora, they will be sown tomorrow, the peonies will be left to their own devices outside over winter. More Dieramas sown today into deep pots - pink fairies, devon sunset, trichorhizum and nixonianum.
Noticed that there is one seed germinated in the pot of iris clotted cream sown on 25/8/18, still no sign of the innominotas though.

I think there are signs of life in the thalictrum alpinum pot sown on 25/10/2018 and left outside, not sure what they should look like so time will tell. On the 11th January I baggied seeds of tacca nivea, clematis integrifolia and primula auricula douglas strain mixed, yesterday I baggied some mystery seeds I found in my coat pocket They are all on the floor in the front bedroom, just need to make sure they don't dry out.

These were pricked out using a cocktail stick this morning into separate cells, very tiny, not expecting them all to survive (or I will be over-run with them!)

Success Tig. Funny that I always thought Primula had to be sown in the green but you have them going now. Good work.

I too had my doubts about them germinating Dutchy, never had much success with bought seeds before, but I'm glad I tried the baggy method, it worked a treat and they are already growing on well so far.

This morning I've baggied 6 types of codonopsis - viridiflora, pilosula, bhutanica, grey-wilsonii, tangshen and lanceolata. Tried with them before and although I got some to germinate they didn't survive, hoping to do better this time.
