Just found a mini cucumber that I hadn't see - it was hidden behind a leaf.... the butter dish got in the way but it gives an idea of the size of them. This was about 17cms. They taste soo good. RF

Right here we go - I didn't quite know where to post this , sooo it will end up on two threads, just for good measure.... After the fiasco of a couple of weeks ago with my tiny 3 spuds - or was it is enormous egg...I was a little disconcerted to see this had happened when "my growing time" wasn't up. After asking someone in the know, I realised that I am being teased.....no names - but I will get you back.... I had a broogle or as OM would say a gently rootling and this is what I have found.... I have grown my own spuds..... LOOK... I am so pleased - a meal in a 12 litre tub......I can't believe that I managed it after the fiasco last year...2 are even bigger than the egg. Mmmm , those boiled with fresh mint and loads of butter.... And cast you eyes on these as well........ Wisley Magic to the right and mystery beans to the left (thanks OM) Loads more coming - not bad for a 90 litre trough methinks. RF

Irish - wonder what the Welsh part of me will think about that - I have no doubt that they will harmonise beautifully.

Just pulled mine today stevemc and I'm really chuffed with them. Planted last autumn and grown in pots - sizes vary a bit and none are what I'd call 'plump' but that's because I put too many in the pots I'll certainly be doing them again but will give them more room this time ;D

I was well suprised tbo, although saying that, suppliers have at last caught on to the idea that a lot more folk are growing veg in containers these days. Not everyone has a garden never mind the space.

I love my container veg garden - there isn't much that I haven't tried to grow and I have had some fantastic harvests... Only thing that I haven't managed is carrots - terrible failure for some reason....

Just found this thread thanks to Ladygardener's tip. Some interesting ideas. I'm going to look at the nursery from the link Chuckles gave. I suppose it's a bit late for this year, but I'll definitely be trying a few container veg next year.
