Tell me about it Tig! I am not bothering with SR sickly/wrong plug plants again although that said I have 5 very healthy Nictonia that were sent out as white antirrhinum!

Went to a GC today and bought 2 heleniums..one for my sister and one for me....and a houseplant (zamioculcas raven). Last time I was in dobbies i bought a maidenhair fern...WHY? I invariably kill them after a few days...they really need to be in a terrarium..never allowed to dry out...it's starting to go crispy already But they're SO pretty *sigh*

Jenny and I went to the big garden centre (it does some home things too ) near us on Saturday. Between us we bought Creeping Jenny Echium candicans (I've tried this a few times but I think there's a good spot in our garden now where we can grow it and keep it protected during the winter, fingers crossed) Helianthemum "Ben Hope" 2 Perovskia "Prime Time" 2 Hebe donna "Emma" with purple flowers Verbena (mixed purple / pink flowers) Limonium "Salt lake"
Jenny intends doing 2 purple themed containers for the front of the house and the other plants will go into the garden.

I wondered if they charged different prices in different parts of the country Tig! Still, glad you got even more of a bargain! I bought some daffodil bulbs and tulip bulbs at the GC yesterday - they had such a lovely choice! I also got confirmation of my Croft 16 daffodil order. That's a bit of a lottery when you order but I've got some lovely bulbs coming!

What a lovely selection Ladygardener! I called into the GC yesterday and bought 2 half price perennials - Anemone Frilly Knickers (what a silly name!) and Euphorbia Ascot Rainbow and some compost and some top soil. Oh, I got purple and orange wallflowers too!

Dare I say that I bought a bit of heather in a pot to sit by the front door? I never liked it but now looked and thought yes why not. Got compost for future tulip planting as well and some grit to top those off.
Still think I am turning into my mum where the heather is concerned……….

The bees like heather Dutchy, not my favourite plant but I have a few in the front garden and apart from trimming back after flowering they look after themselves and are often teeming with pollinators.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to see via this link or not Dutchy, but there has been a lot of talk about RHS Wisley's new Heather Bed it looks amazing. If you can't use the link then try googling it maybe.. Heather is making a comeback they say and with more modern planting schemes including grasses etc.. it's a far cry from the old 60's and 70's designs where it was grown in a rockery. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000m09y

that does look pretty Ladygardener, thanks. Mind it is probably that heather is such a low plant and has been misused over the years by people even painting the flowers a bright blue. Or green. And it does not belong where I live as heather does not like clay soil. Ah well I have a small plant now and it isn't too bad at all

I have wanted peony King's Day for a while, but FG wanted £39.99 for it. Got a Hayloft offer for two bareroot peonies, She's my star & King's Day for £30, just hope they are not miniscule roots when they arrive. Also added Cosmos cherry chocolate, and the abundant primula Barnhaven collection (3 plants) so the order was just over £50 & qualified for free p & p.

Bargain Dutchy! On the way back from Sheffield Park yesterday we called into M&S. Well, I did anyway, and Alan stayed in the car and looked after Brenna - the one thing she cannot cope with is being left in the car on her own. While I was looking about for the bits we needed I found their boxes of spring bulbs - there was an offer on 2 boxes so I got Tulip Amazing Parrot and Cranberry Thistle.

Cranberry Thistle tulips look lovely Jasmine, I see they're sold out from FG as that was the only hit I could get here on my laptop. I love the colours in Amazing Parrot, those colours or similar to them would be my favourites for springtime.
