It's like summer here in Belfast today too and the osteos have been blooming like blazes, they're lovely. ;D

I bought three little osteo's at the weekend and they're gorgeous - white with a tinge of bronze. Haven't planted them out yet, trying to pick the best place for them. Glad your's are delighting you LNG. They're lovely aren't they?

I've got a few clumps of Osteospermums in a border that have been deprived of light Despite them having a few flowers and looking ok ish they've gone a bit leggy, well quite leggy and look a right mess now I've been in tidying the border. Anyone know if they'll rejuvinate and flower again this year if I cut them half back.

Here is my little baby, its very compact but a beauty, its called Purple Spoon and cost 89p. I posted the pic on the Purple thread as well. Also growing some called African Queen which are White with Bronze petal tips, I will post some pics when they flower.

Do you remember when Osteospermums cost an arm and a leg ?
Chuckles, if it is O.jucundum and your plants look pretty awful anyway, I'd cut them right back. I've cut mine right to the ground before, with no ill effects. When they are cut back, you could take the opportunity to move all or some of them. You will find lots of Irishman's cuttings too which should grow on no problem. If it's the more decorative bedding type plant, then cut each 'branch' back to a bud. I'm sure, with a good feed, they will flower again with no problem.

Knowing Osteos and what they are like when hacked back, a length of stem with roots already coming from it that just needs a bit of soil I should think NO.

Thanks guys. Mmmm, well they get sun but mainly in the afternoon. I've looked up the O.jucundum and from the description and pic I found, that is what I have. I reckon I really need to find a new home for them but I'm not sure where borders are packed atm, need to get me thinking cap on I reckon

Sorry NO, have only just seen your question. Amo is correct, it is a length of stem which has already begun to send out roots. Called an Irishman's cutting, because it's not really a cutting. The poor Irish. Some Geraniums do this, and Stachys, and probably lots more.
