Thanks to FA's brilliant instructions...and patience...I can finally post photos! I've always wondered what this is. I bought it for 50p at a plant sale at my boys' school 5 years ago to cover a scruffy pile of breeze blocks. It has spread a lot as everywhere it touches the ground it roots. I am probably going to find out I've been nuturing a weed for 5 years. It is covered in the little blue flowers in April/May time and has chocolatey/green leaves. Jxx

If those are the flowers it may be Speedwell, although, having only seen it in the wild i'm not really familiar with the leaves. It's only a weed if it's growing in a place where you don't want it! Speedwell is a lovely wild flower and, if you've got room and you like it, then its not a weed!!!

I can't see it very clearly, because I need specs, but I'm wondering if it might be Veronica prostrata. Which is much the same as Ruthie's suggestion, but a garden plant.

It's not your eyes WeeT - the photo is a bit blurry! I have just googled Veronica Prostrata and it looks/sounds just like my plant! Thank you for that - I like to know what all my plants are!

Well done Wee. You're right of course. Is Speedwell a Veronica? Think it must be.

Those types of Veronicas are such good doers in the garden and really quite tough. I've got Heavenly Blue and it's a lovely flower with the benefit of being evergreen too

While I was googling it I read several times that it was 'quite invasive'!! It does need keeping in check but it has done the job I bought it for! Thanks again for the ID!

Thanks to FA's brilliant instructions...and patience...I can finally post photos! I'd just like to point out that it was actually Jasmine that did all the hard work. All I did was write some basic instructions for her to follow, which she has obviously done brilliantly ! Oh, and I don't know what the plant is but Wee T is pretty good at that ID stuff so I'll agree with her ;D FA x
