I counted at least half a dozen bees buzzing around my penstemon Catherine de la Mare this afternoon, in the hot sunshine...........fair summery it was ;D

Great shots everyone. I've seen those black ones with the rusty bums on my geranium up at the allotment. There've been a right few bees in my garden thisyear. They love the flowers from the Heuchera.

There are some lovely pics...just a few from me... and this one that I found on an aubergine leaf in the GH - thought it was gasping it's last with 45degC inside but when I went back it was gone.... I love the spot on it's back... RF

Lovely RF The bees are all undercover here today, or flying round with tiny brollies up! Yesterday they were about though and I snapped these two .. OH has disturbed a nest of little orange bottomed bees which must be in the garage footings, they were giving him merry hell when he was knocking the bricks off yesterday x Tig

Those are such vibrant colours Tig, great. Geranium yours is a familiar picture to me, they're constantly climbing up my Digitalis. Rf the rain is not putting him off it's food anyhow.

this is a bit better... it's either a female bombus terestris (buff tailed bumble bee) or a cuckoo bee///you can tell it's female because it's antenae have an 'elbow'...and it's a buff tail because there's a thin buff coloured line at the top of the white bit of the tail. incidentally....this isn't a brilliant pic...but you can tell the males because of the yellow hairs on the face (their antenae are straight too...no pollen baskets on the legs either)

....me luuuurve bees..... a little solitary bee was having fun this arvo in the garden. sharing it's dinner with a bumblebee bumble bees ;D I haven't seen any redtails since the end of June...anybody seen any recently?
