I feel compelled to say that the cycling team have done an outstanding job - all the investment of lottery money and the commonwealth velodrome in Manchester has definitely paid off! Inspirational performances across the board

I have always, always felt that USA, China and the old USSR should be ignored in the medals table as they tend to swamp the whole games. (Not their athletes of course who work just as hard as any of them or they wouldn't be there!!) Now Russia is smaller and new countries have come out of it they are down with us mere mortals. The competition is fantastic and interesting to watch but everyone tends to judge it by the medals table. Anyone else out there ignore the now 2 biggies of China and USA and just eagerly watch the beter matched contest between the others? GB, Russia, Germany, Australia.... all exciting stuff.

I'm just enjoying the thought that the aussies are upset we are ahead of them in the medals table! Roll on 2012. I'll be buying a lottery ticket more often now to help all those dedicated people getting ready for London. I'm looking forward to it even more now.

The young British girl got short-changed in the taiqando quarter finals, I hate combat sports, but how the judges missed her head shot - as Adrian Chiles said 'one must have fallen asleep and the other was reading a book!'

How come young Tom was ok to compete at 14, but the Chinese gymnast suspected to be only 14 was supposedly underage?

Watch out for the name Jonathon Adams at the next Paralympics. He's the son of a friend of ours and lives round the corner from us (literally, about 250 yards away). He has won loads of medals at various schools events and has several world records for his age and class. If he continues to pursue it, he could make a pretty big impact in 2012.
