No you've not Rosefriend It was'nt on this week and won't be on again until 25th July unfortunately. Such a shame. Having said that, there's a new programme starting Wednesday 8th July called The Autistic Gardener on Channel 4. I've set the record button and I think it'll be interesting to see. Channel 4 Features has commissioned ‘The Autistic Gardener’ from betty. The 4x60’ series will follow award-winning gardener Alan Gardner as he leads a team of autistic green fingered amateurs who will use their unique skills to transform neglected gardens across the country. Alan – who himself is diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome– believes that people on the autistic spectrum have a potentially special gift when it comes to creating beautiful spaces. Having worked as a garden designer and horticulturist, he will put together a team of trainees for the series who will work under his expert leadership. The series which will air in 2015 will be full of takeout gardening tips and inspirational designs as these potential gardening professionals and viewers at home learn skills and practical tips from Alan. Love your Garden with AT is on at the moment too although it's very sentimental and some of the planting is a bit iffy I think.

Has anyone been watching The Instant Gardener? The name almost put me off but it has turned out to be a realistic and informative programme with lovely presenters in Helen and Danny. It's on BBC iplayer for anyone who has missed it.

I watched the first one of the Instant Gardener LG, and wasn't impressed. Too much time spent chatting about the owners life problems, the garden make-over was done when the conditions were far too wet and the quality of the trellis they erected wasn't going to last long in those conditions, I doubt the cement in the posts was ever going to set when the holes were totally water logged. I didn't bother watching the next one.
I loved Beechgrove, and if I ever get chance would love to visit Alnwick - absolutely stunning.

I don't have time (unfortunately) to read all these very Interesting pages, soz!
I can say I watch most TV gardening but my favorite is Monty Don's Gardeners World whee he usually Introduces guests like carol Kline etc.
I need catchup on my recordings.

It was good to see a gardening programme back on TV. The plot and garden this week were very difficult sites.

I have watched that series Rosefriend, I found it very interesting. It looks as though GW will be back on BBC2 at 8.30 pm (I think) on 4 March. According to the March issue of GW magazine, Monty has a new addition, a retriever puppy called Nell!

Oddly enough I wasn't - just seen the repeat and I felt that Monty was somehow different - the info was informative, the way he was with the dogs was good, part of garden life.. Yes it is a gardening programme but I enjoyed it - he even has a different jacket on.
One thing I didn't like was the welsh gardens in that they cut all the leaves off the Hellebores - yes, the ill ones but somehow they would have looked so much better if a few leaves had been left - I think so anyway... The cyclamen were beautiful...

I agree with you about the leaves Rosefriend, a lot of work to do but not worth it in terms of result I thought. I thought Joe's bit was a waste of time.

Enjoyed Beechgrove again today..
If anyone finds Agretti or land seaweed (Salsola soda) then can I beg a few seeds please - I read recently about it but can't find it here. It is supposed to be great - would love to try it...

I thought so too LG, the bit about squeezing the moisture from the seed head on the plant each day for 10 days, then putting the stems in a vase until the seed heads dried out was interesting. The tip about cutting the sepals off to get a perfect pompom was good to know. Not that I have any intention of showing dahlias

Yes it was Tig, I've grown a lot of pom pom Dahlia as has theinsidegardener but they've not made the proper round ball and often wondered why. Now I know the tricks I will try them this year, I'm going to try the squeezing in order to get seeds too but not until very late in the season as I always dead head to prolong the flowers. It might be easier this year as I'm planning to have a Dahlia bed at the allotment.

They said at the end of the last programme that they were taking a break unfortunately. I've checked 'tho and they'll be back on this coming Thursday 14th July so you'll be able to see it as usual on Sunday 17th July. I miss it too but we were able to see a bit of the Hampton Court Flower Show last week and Gardeners World is still on.

Ladygardener, Barbara, Rosefriend, Tig, Auricula, bagpuss, No Beechgrove again - sigh !! Well I have just watched Monty and smiled when he said about eating Kohlrabi - use it as a Radish an eat it raw... Mmmmh - well on this side of the water Kohlrabi (both green and purple varieties) are eaten mostly cooked, cut into "sticks", boiled or sautéed in butter and black pepper - a lovely white/cheese/mustard/whatever sauce and Bob's yer uncle... You can obviously eat it raw as well if you want...great in soups etc.

I've tried both ways with the Kohlrabi and did'nt like either, I would'nt grow it again. I miss Beechgrove when it's not on too Rosefriend but it will be on this Sunday as is GW. I wonder if the coverage of the Olympic Games will put our programmes on hold again Rosefriend.
