I notice that Gardeners' World has had to give way to Athletics - typical

I remembered to watch GW tonight, and it was a pleasant enough half-hour programme of Jessamine Cottage garden 'restoration' project. The new owner made a lot of significant changes to it though, after stating at the start back in 2007 that she wanted to restore it to its original plans. I enjoy seeing what other people do with their gardens though, and at least there was no sodden Greenacres or 30 minute fix to groan about ;D

It was quite aninteresting programme, but as it was a special, it could have been shown at any time.It would be nice to have a proper gardening programme on each week and have these specials as extras. There is a programme on BBC2 tonight at 7pm about Bodnant Garden - I think there is a short series of 5 programmes about it.

Saturdays programme is not on iplayer. I've been keeping up with greenmount gardener on wednesdays and iplayer. Not sure if I'll get a chance to watch that tonight Auricula but maybe it'll be on iplayer. I wish they'd tell you in advance what they're going to have on iplayer.

LG this link should take you to Episode 14 of GW (the one you missed) www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00mb3jd/Gardeners_World_2009_Episode_14/I watched the Bodnant programme. A lovely garden to visit although it is a while since we've been. A lot of the programme was taken up with Prince Charles visit 25/04/2008 - and included rubbish like clearing the weeds from the cracks in paving and raking up leaves from the gravel paths. Then there was the precision planting of box around a recreated 'square' area. Oh and the replanted border which the head gardener said her Ladyship described as 'like a woman who hadn't brushed her hair' and seemed to think that was a good comment (or as I might say 'what a scruffy, unkempt mess that looks' ) I actually liked the planting of veronica through stipa, it was informal and that was probably not what her Ladyship is used to. x Tig

Why, if it is a NT garden, does the family call all the shots?? Thought "Lady" was very patronising about the HG's appearance - I'd have doused her in fertiliser!!!

I watched the next episode of Bodnant tonight, and thought it was a bit better than last weeks. They seemed to spend more time doing rather than talking Even made a note of a plant I wouldn't mind getting (Cardiocrinum giganteum - Giant Lily) although where I would put one is another matter entirely, especially as it can grow to 12' tall! The tree felling farce made me lol, although I was saddened by the damage to the evergreen. Did anyone else think that the bench ended up nearly the same colour as the HG said people were moaning about (get a life ) in the first place? x Tig

I thought exactly the same about the bench colour - where were the muted pastels?? I also fancy the tall lily......but not from seed ( Imight be compost in 7yrs time!! ;D ) Enjoyed this weeks programme more, as it was more about the garden and less about the toffs (sorry, anothe Madame LaFarge moment there ;D )

Watched Bodnant again tonight (nearly missed it doing Pub Quiz for Diggit ) Not as interesting as last week, but the pieces on the Phytophthora ramorum (sudden Oak death disease) and its implications for other plants was very informative. It wasn't made clear if the newly planted shrubs with the disease had brought it into the garden though, or whether they were infected in situ I found the propogation of the 'rare' rhododendron using 'scientific' methods quite interesting as well, although it made me wonder how anybody got it to grow in the first place, if it was so difficult! x Tig

I really enjoyed GW last night.. which was nice! I really like this way of introducing the GOTY entrants too - soo much nicer to test them in their own gardens, even if it was a bit nervewracking for them being watched like that! It will good to see a bit more of their own gardens - I thought the lady's last night was gorgeous..... I really didn't like the 'speed' gardening competitiveness they have had in the last few competitions. Does anyone know how the competition proceeds after we've seen all the gardeners and their gardens?

I enjoyed bits of GW last night, but I usually find something of interest in it, even it is just a snippet. Didn't think the table legs would 'last a lifetime' untreated and encased in concrete though That GOTY lady had a lovely garden, and she had a lot of it too. So much space always makes me jealous I thought they said that 'viewers' votes would come into play 4P, after we have seen all of the entries. Although they must be going to combine the phone votes with the scores of the judges and the tests, otherwise there would be no point in doing them? x Tig

I enjoyed the programme this week - especially the bit with Joe in the Yorkshire garden. I thought they were daft with the wooden table legs - bound to rot!. Liked the GOTY but thought her container was a bit 1970 /80s.All in all a good show
