I've been buying quite a few bags of Bill Oddies seeds which seem to go down well. I bought sunflower hearts the other day, they were branded from RSPB , they were expensive but it seems the birds love them. I bought National Trust mixed ones the other week. I did buy a big bag of premium seeds several months ago and it seemed to take the birds forever to eat them.

There is absolutely no doubt 'tho that all the birds who visit like the suet pellets best of all. They're on offer now for 2pks for £4 in Pets at home so I bought 4 pks the other day. They would eat them all day long but I've learned to ration them. ;D

I buy the cheapest seeds cos the squirrels, seagulls, pigeons and magpies seem to get most of them

I don't buy special seeds or meal worms etc, tbo I think they are far to expensive This is what I buy www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=2448 20kg bag £13.29 it seems to have gone up in price since I last bought it. Bread is going slow with my birds atm, they eat it if theres not much else on offer, apples are being eaten by the blackbirds and some fruit cake. 4 fat balls seem to be lasting about 4 days. My peanut ball which is approx 5" across lasts about a week. I've cut down on everything by half this last few days since the weather has been a tad milder. A guy in wilcos the other day was saying it took a good week to 10 days for birds in his garden to start eating fat balls, once they started

The Elves are in different part of the garden ;D - Mr Robin pops in and a few sparrows, a blackbird and some blue tits but thats it I went to check my half coconut shells I had taken into the wild yesterday to see if they had been eaten I put them on branches that would be too weak for a squirrel to land on so the birds had a chance Both had GONE - just the string was left - not sure who/what has had them - next time will just take some seed to scatter under the trees

Don't forget to stock up your feeders and bird tables for the weekend's big garden birdwatch. See the RSPB site for details. ;D

Strange you should say that Missy, mine have been emptying the feeders really quickly the last few days I noticed an unusual frenzy and the sparrows are now taking bits of the plumes off my pampas grass for their nests I leave it lying around for this reason as I notice year after year the plumes make nice nest material for them i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cool.gif

I treated us to one of those dangly bird feeder thingies...it's been moved about the garden until it's in the right spot. But all I ever seem to get are wood pigeons (who land with a fffffflllumpp!), collared doves and starlings. We do get some other birds visiting the garden, mopping up the stuff that the others knock onbto the ground....blackbirds, thrush, a robin, chaffinches, sparrows and wrens...but haven't enticed the tits or the goldfinches in yet....

This morning my Garden Robin stayed where he was on the ground pecking away at the bird seed I had scattered just a few inches from my feet - and then I spied another robin in the tree
I wonder if he was showing off and that was his wife to be - I do hope for the 3rd year in a row they dont make a nest in the tub right outside my back door
Last year it meant I couldnt relax on my decking as they stopped feeding the babies when I was on it

I filled up the seed feeder again today and put some on the flat trays too....I saw what I am presuming are a couple of sparrows, didnt get too close but they looked a bit like robins but a little bigger and no red breast...never seen them before...
See I am as eloquent with my birds as I am with the names of my plants ;D ;D ;D
I also saw another wagtail...hopefully they will become more frequent.
