Sorry I haven't been very active on the boards of late. I look in most days but don't post much. Truth is I think I im in one of my "down" phases. I find difficulty in motivating mysellf to do anything. My garden is a mess, the greenhouse likewise.
But I am still around and keeping an eye on you all. I'll be back

You're not the only one Dr B. There's a fair few former regulars who haven't posted much lately (you know who you are, and if you're reading this, it would be nice to see you again !!).
Sorry to hear you're down. I have those phases often and it's never easy to get yourself out of them (especially if you're one of those people for whom the approaching Winter can bring on "the blues"). You just have to get through each day as best you can and hope that your spirits start to lift soon. Try doing what I do - look around yourself and count your blessings. Try to focus on the positive things you have going for you and the good things in your life.
Don't worry about posting - just come in as and when you feel like it. Some of us will still be here ;D
Cheers FA x

Sorry to hear that you're feeling down Dr B. It's a time to be kind to yourself and not to worry about gardens and greenhouses getting in a mess. They'll recover and so will you. Things go in cycles. We just have to be a bit gentler with ourselves sometimes and let things go. Choose a little project for yourself to get started again - something that you fancy doing. It's the old how to eat an elephant thing isn't it - bit by bit!!
Take care.

Sorry to hear that Dr Bill. I certainly know what you mean though and whilst it is all too easy to forget our real world lives, they are the most important so if you feel that you need a break just take one and don't worry about not posting. It's not compulsory, unlike some places I could think of That said we will still be here for you any time you want to share a problem. Take care.

Hi Dr Bill Think we are all saying the same - we all get "down" The weather doesnt help and all the shops pushing Christmas down your throats really depresses me a lot To get over the blues I just watch the News - somehow my little probs seem nothing in comparison

CCFC need your help a bit this season FB ( and not just by you buying their pies at matches!! ). I do get down from time to time, especially on dismal winter days - nothing really seems to help, I just have to wait for it to pass.

I wouldn't really have understood about being down until a few weeks ago but the car accident knocked far more stuffing out of me than I realised so I do appreciate now what it's like to feel like you are trying to climb out of a complete gloom. A good doctor has helped hugely in my case. I often have to arrange counselling for troubled children but I do honestly feel we could all do with a professional ear to listen to us and help unravel things sometimes. Hope you feel better soon Dr Bill

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a bad patch Dr. Bill. I did miss seeing you around. Don't worry about the garden or posting on here at all. The important thing is for you to get to a better place and look after yourself. Take care.

I've enrolled for an Open University course today. I need a purpose, a target to work towards. I have always enjoyed study with the OU so I am hoping this will help to get me back on track. Thanks for all your caring.

What are you going to study Dr Bill?

Post by Dr Bill on Oct 23, 2009 17:59:52 GMT
What are you going to study Dr Bill? Darwin and Evolution. It is a 10 point short course which should be completed at the end of January 2010. Assuming I am succesful in getting back into the study habit I think I may do a course in History of Medicine next year. Actually, what I would really like to do is an MA in Religious studies to follow on from my BA. But that is a fairly expensive 4 year commitment so I need to convince myself that I will be able to cope with it first.

Brilliant Dr. Bill. That will keep your little grey cells ticking over all right. I'm doing a course at Queens university this year, a short course with 20 points level 2 and I'm really enjoying it. I hope you enjoy yours as too.

Weren't you going to enrol in a gardening course? Did you give that a go? x Tig Morning Tig Yes, I did enrol on KLC's "Designing with Plants" course but never really got on with it. I still have the materials and keep intending to get into it but it is very much a "do it yourself" course and I really need more guidance I think otherwise I tend to be a bit lazy and thinks slip. That's why I find the OU so good. I can study in my own time but at the same time there are deadlines to meet for assignments and I think I need that incentive.
