All the phlox cuttings that I took and overwintered in an unheated greenhouse are going great guns...hoorah!!

I did it as an experiment as the ones I have were not really big enough to divide. Seems to have worked

Well done Auricula the ones i took didnt do very well none have survived. I will try again this year but maybe take some a bit earlier.

My 8 that I did looked like they had died but there are new leaves coming from the base of 6. I've chopped off the old stems and we'll see what happens, they must have rooted. I love free plants ;D

Some of the overwintered leaves are a bit brownish/mauvy but the new growth is fresh and green. I'll be planting them out next week ( weather permitting)

Checked mine today and they are just showing roots through the pot bottom, always a safe bet that they can be potted on I'll probably not plant mine out till next spring.

They look great Chuckles. The one I took from a lovely pink one in Botanic gdns did'nt make it but I'll try again this year and as Snowowl says I'll take it earlier. My own that I've divided are coming on grand in the garden.

I personally tend to let things get a really good root system on before planting out, while they are in pots you can give them more tlc. The bigger and stronger the plants the more chance they have of surviving once you plant them out in the big wide world ;D
