My wife has just about finished all the Christmas things except for the perishables which she will buy on Thursday. You know I envy you good folks who can just go and buy these presents and things for their family and friends. I would love to be able to go into town and into a shop and buy just one present for my wife. Now I know I could buy her something over the Interweb thingy (if I had plastic or knew how to Paypal) but that would not be the achievement that physically going into a shop would be. It really takes the shine out of this season for me. She says it does not matter as there is nothing she wants anyway and if she did she would have already bought it. But, that is still not the same. I did try to buy her a card for her birthday. I drove into town (not a big deal I have been practising doing that for 14 years), parked the car in the free car park so I had no stress from trying to use a machine for a ticket. I walked up the road to the Card shop. I knew exactly where it was. It was closed. That was it. Panic attack, barely got home, shaking all the way. So, there it is. Enjoy your Christmas, dole out your gifts, have a wonderful time and a Happy New year to you all.

OB, sorry you are suffering, can't you get someone to go with you ?
I have finished now I think, I got my food shop today because I was worried about the weather stopping me going tomorrow, just the bird to pick up from the butchers on Thursday.

Sorry to hear that OB. Coincidentally I have been out shopping 'on behalf of' this morning. I am sure that your wife means it when she says that it doesn't matter so try not to worry about that.
Online shopping is a piece of cake when you get used to it, but of course it does necessitate having a credit/debit card which is not much help if you don't have one already.

Christmas cakes were made end August (only 4 this year). Last main pressies were bought in November on the aircraft back from Oz, but I have picked up or made a couple more since. Cards were sent first week of December. Sainsbury's delivered everything Monday evening. We picked up turkey and gammon yesterday, gammon now cooked and looking fab Daughter and BF left Ipswich an hour ago. And they're still there. My head hurts toooo much. Merry Christmas all.

If I lived a bit closer OB I would have taken you into town and helped you buy summat, but I'm sure as Spru says your wife understands (you could always make one - after all it is the thought that counts ) I am done and dusted now - if I ain't got it (whatever 'it' maybe) tough - I am not going out on Christmas Eve - I hate it, too many drunken idiots or manic mothers with wild eyes!!! Just this minute finished wrapping the last of the presents and I am ready for a calm festive season Bring it on ;D By the way it is snowing like crazy here, two inches in the last hour! x Tig

I think that is a great idea Tig. How many gifts are given that never get used?
