How much, if you don't mind me asking, do you pay for your internet connection, we have just found out that we're paying £37.50. a month, with Virgin, is that about right or are we paying well over the top.?, and if so how do we go about getting one of those dongle things I've seen people using, ?and what do they charge,? and do you pay extra everytime you use it.?

We're with BT Barbara and we got 18 months for the price of 12 and pay about £16 for the 12 months with another 6 months being 'free'. You might have more download capability if you are paying that much or is your telly included?

We are with Virgin too. We pay £53 a month for telephone and broadband plus extra if we go over a certain call limit.
The various companies make their charging plans so complicated that you never really seem to know how much you are paying for what. I have toyed with the idea of switching my TV provider from Sky to Virgin and take advantage of the packages they advertise - but they alway seem to work out more expensive when you add them up. It is a complete mystery to me

We pay on average £28 per month for broadband and telephone with Tiscali but are not heavy users. If you try uswitch.com they will give you an idea what will be the best package. Hubby is thinking of switching to B.T when our contract runs out.

Well your right when you say it's hard to understand, they charge us for international calls, then knock it off at the end, they do the same with something else, I can't remember what now, but all together last months bill was £96.00, I know we have all the sports, and film channels , but good god!!!!! anyway, when Hubby gets home tonight lots and lots of stuff is going.

Mine is with Virgin and works out around 50 something a month. That's for TV Channels, Phone and Broadband but not all the sports or films. I've given up Virgin before and contacted sky but it was going to be more expensive as you need a landline, I think a BT landline in fact and it was all working out more expensive. I went back to Virgin.

It's worth telling whoever you are with that you are thinking of moving when your contract is up as that is how OH got another good deal from BT - just to keep him as a customer.

I pay £41 for Sky tv, which is for all channels except the movie channels. I pay £18 a month for broadband via Orange but I am in the process of switching to Sky to get it free.
I'm with BT for my phone but we hardly ever use it so it's really not worth faffing around to get it changed.

I am with Plusnet (a subsidiary of BT) and pay £19.99/month for 'up to 8Mbps' but actually averaging around 4.7Mbps due to distance from the exchange. I also have an unlimited monthly bandwidth contract, although the currently marketed product has an 80Gb/month cap.
Plusnet say that 80% of the country can access its cheaper rates based on the number of providers at the local exchange but needless to say that Boston doesn't fall within that 80% at the moment. Otherwise the price would be slightly cheaper.
As far as the landline phone goes I am on BT's unlimited anytime plan.
I have never used a dongle but I know that Vodafone have them so maybe your mobile phone provider could help out there?

Thanks for all you replies, Hubby 'phoned them this morning and getting rid of the film channel will save £7.00 a month, doesn't seem worth it, changing most of the channels and internet takes us off the VIPpackage (whatever) so we will probably just carry on with it all, it just seems a lot of money, but Hubby says whats £23.00 a week for entertainment, I might use the 'phone more just to feel like I'm getting my moneysworth. ;D I think it's free after 6-00.
