Have you ever been in a situation when you've got a big decision to make & you go over all the pros & cons for ages, then you think to hell with it & just do it? I'm not sure if it was a bigger shock to them or me but today I gave in my notice at my job, were I've worked for over 20 years . My OH bought his company 2 years ago & we always had a plan that eventually I'd help run it but then the recession happened. His office manager gave in her notice yesterday so a decision I've been putting off for over a year had to be made in a day, so here I go 49 next week & starting a new career, that will probably involve training courses & working full time again. Mind you I have negotiated time off for essential garden maintenance i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif Jillyx

Taking such decisions is always a challenge Jilly, and sometimes it depends on your personal loyalties. It is hard to leave somewhere you have contributed to for so long and made friends with folk who feel like they are almost family ... However we all come to crossroads in life and sometimes a sharp left-turn needs to be made - only time will tell, but I made most of my best career decisions following sharp left-turns See every challenge as an opportunity and you won't go far wrong (just don't fall out with the boss ) x Tig

Exciting times ahead Jilly. I know what you mean about difficult decisions but I really feel that things do work out for the best although it can seem hard getting to that point. Lots of luck with your new job and all that will go with it

Well Jilly thats exactly what I did at 49, my boss wanted me to work more a nd more hours and I wanted to work less, so I left and went to college, and became a childminder, I had 11 great years, and never regretted a moment, I retired last year. so good luck with the new boss ;D and I'm sure you wont regret it for a moment. all that gardening leave as well .

Thanks for all the support everyone, it's quite scary but the more I think about it, the more I'm looking forward to it. I'll keep you all up to date (there's bound to be some funny moments). I used to have a sharp brain & loads of confidence, so if I can just remember where I put them.... i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif Jillyx
