All she told me was it was a perennial and I read somewhere it needed support. She gave it to me in a 4" pot and I am definitely going to transplant it into the ground. I have a post on the front porch I can tie it up to if I have to give it support. I am going to contact her and ask her more about where she got it from. I have had scarlet beans before. I have not ever had any come back so if I get beans off of this I am going to dry them and store for next year, hopefully I will get some to germ for me. I am going to try and find a picture or take one and post it here. I have not done that before so will give it my best shot. I will keep you all posted as to it's progress over the summer.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. I have the plant in the ground where everything grows VERY well so hope I picked a good spot. I am looking forward to watching this plant grow. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Just thought I would check in with you all. The bean plant is thriving where I put it, but no blossoms yet. It is about 2" tall and the leaves are HUGH! Having fun watching it grow. At least I didn't kill it. ;D

It sounds marvellous - any chance of a pic?
I wonder what the beans will be like...

Me too. If the leaves are huge it is something different from what I could not revive. My friend told me that it was a normal growing bean.
