Oh yes I remember you chatting about that one time. I found an article that said Malone Primary School closed in the 80's and whatever children were there changed over to an integrated school.

Ahh, that explains it. That closes that little mystery - thank you LG It was a very old fashioned red brick building - probably got knocked down and replaced by houses.

LG - thank you for the info. It was easier to find information knowing that Malone Primary had closed. The children went to one of the first integrated schools - Forge Integrated Primary School. Malone was just about to close down when Forge was set up.

I was born in Medway towns in Kent - grew up in Essex, spent a while in Brixton, moved to Basildon then up to Yorkshire with an ex - I love Yorkshire and Mexborough where I live now - its not the prettiest place in the world, but we have a nice house, and plenty of garden to go at. The people round here are smashing and I am very happy ;D I cant imagine me going back down south - it dont feel like home anymore. My family are still down there and my best friend and sometimes I go through bouts of terrible homesickness which is odd as I have been here 16 years! But I do love Yorkshire so I think I'll stay - and who knows one day they might stop looking at me like I got two heads whenever I speak, or stop asking me if Im a cockney ;D

i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif What a great idea for a thread, I must have missed it. I was born in Kent too KL, a little place called Longfield near Dartford, when I was there it was a small village, but now it's more like a London suburb. Both my parent's families come from the same village & Mum & Dad are still there in the house I was born in. I moved to Brighton as a rebellious teenager, met my husband & have stayed as a rebellious middle aged lady. I love it down here but would love to move a bit further out of town & get a bigger garden while I'm still able to enjoy it. Jillyx

My Dad was based at Aldershot for a few years BB - we lived in Tidworth then. That was during the drought of 1976 and I remember being paid to water the garden with watering cans which I pushed around in a wheelbarrow.
