Hello Gardenhammerette I know you apologised before you wrote this, and not wishing you any upset personally, I just wanted to ask if the chernobyl "jokes" could be dropped. Im not in least bit pc, but I just ask from a humane point, thats all. No offence intended.  Seapoppy 1. Yes I did. 2.Would you also like to highlight WelshBlues caption, as you have done mine, and ask him to drop his caption on a humane point...it could be classed as 'offensive' as mine. 3. And finally, get off my case. It would take more than a post from you to cause me any personal upset. GH |

Not defending or attacking anyone here but I think some people need to take a little step back and think about what message boards and forums are really about and this is mainly a forum for swapping gardening information and a little bit of fun.
It is entirely up to the individual to what they wish to divulge about their personal life and to take the consequences for it, No one goes out to intentionally upset anyone, no one on this forum knows every single detail about someone elses life or tragedies that have occured in them. There are not many people in this world or on this forum whos lives haven't been touched by illness or tragedy themselves or of family member, most prefer to keep it to themselves or talk about it at the right place and time.
Lets keep this forum the once happy place it was.

I'm going to apologise in advance too. I'm going to sound like a spoil-sport, a wet blanket, a goodie-goodie. anything you call me, I'll take on the chin. I used to laugh at jokes like that, probably even told them. But when my daughter was 10 she developed severe curvature of the spine. We were told she would be bent over at an angle of 90 degrees. Because of where the curvature was on the spine, it was believed that an operation would not be possible. As you can imagine, my husband and I were distraught, dreading the life my daughter would have. Suddenly hunchback jokes weren't funny anymore. But my daughter had to survive two years of taunts, at school and on the street. She was a wee star, stoical, while we wanted to kill everyone who was cruel to her. Luckily, an operation did work, and although her spine is not totally straight, it can only be noticed when she is undressed. This has made me over-sensitive. Please do not take offence at this message. As I said, I would have found remarks very funny at one time. But we don't know what people suffer in their real lives, and it is so easy to cause upset. But please can we still be friends? I can't edit my earlier post to Seapoppy to include you in it Weeterier...my comments remain the same however. |

That's for others to decide? I'm not getting drawn into this but one of my first rules of life ... is to be able to laugh at myself before I laugh at others.
